Ok -- so there are labelling schemes were the products only come from farms with certain minimum welfare standards. If this is a good thing -- could you do something similar for the use of animals to develop drugs? If not, why not?

Intrinsic value versus functional value is a key debate in philosophies relating to animals. It is %100 philosophy, trust me. That's why I was interested to see a philosophy forum -- because I have recently started studying philosopies of animal worth. But apparently this forum is only for debating free will versus determinism (etc) for the umpteenth time. I was under the mistaken impression there might be philosophers or students of philosophy visiting here.

uh huh......and i was under the mistaked impression that i give a shit.....anyway, i am a philosophy major and have never seen or heard of a course relating to animals, but that just might be since my school of philosophy is continental.....anyway, as i have never heard of such a topic, it does not sound all that appealing, but that is because you have merely introduced it and have not produced an argument....anyway, if i were to read an essay pertaining to the subject i might be interested....do you know of any?
