How do you people feel about dissection?
Serious DiscussionDiscuss How do you people feel about dissection? in the Discussions forums; <~~~me thinking of my reasons....
with the subject being dead, how about if they were killed for the dissection? does that mean the same thing? example: a class set of rats that a killed before class to be dissected?
at our school when i did science we dissected eyes and lungs i think. the animals were already dead - i think the teacher got them from a butcher so i had no qualms with that. only they smelled really bad because they weren't all that fresh - since they weren't to be eaten i don't think they stored them very well at all.
i'm not sure what else they dissect though since i was only doing 5th form/year 11 science then. i'd think in higher levels they might dissect "better" stuff but i haven't heard anything about it.
Dissection is a good learning experience. We did a lot of dissections in my biology class in high school and college, thats the only way I think I would have learned as much as I did.
I wouldn`t do it. I dont even like eating chicken of the bone.
Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.
and with human dissection, i think it is good for medical purposes. dissecting an animal to practice or learn how a human heart works probably wouldn't cut it. and sides if you were to be operated on, and it was the surgeons first time would you be more confident if you knew that they had practiced on more than wilbur or our other friends?
