I want to know what everyone thinks of th concept of creation. Not in the sense of created vs. evolution though. I want to know what everyone thinks about my concept.


While I am an unashamed and very outspoken pagan I do personaly believe that man creates God(s) out of his own needs and desires. Both the needs in every day life but also out of the need for a higher purpouse and the need for reasons why. This in my mind makes the existance of deitys no less valid however since by this our own beliefs give them life. Kind of like the concept in the occult of immunity through disbelief.


If we created our own gods though then why should we bow to the whims of our own creation? Ultimately we would have the higher power the power of believing or not. Granted such things are easier said then done since all too often seeing is believing. It is easy to forget your the one that created the wall when faced with slamming headlong into it.


I know this thread may well seem to belong in the religions or spirituality area however what is religion but a different type of playground for a philisophical ideal? Also Im not intendign this thread to center around religion its self nor what is right or wrong simply personal views and ideals surrounding possibilities. I would appreciate and look forrward to reading the thoughts of others.

there is a vast of philosophical inquires pertaining to religion.....it was one of my specialties in philosophy

theology is a mix of religion and philosophy.....itz the key behind all religious beliefs....

what you're kind of speaking of is sumtin Descartes said.....existence comes in two forms....metaphysical and physical....metaphysical meaning dreams, the mind, the soul, unicorns....etc

now, i ask you, does a unicorn exist? you're first response is to say no, but they do....as they exist metaphysically....i say unicorn, and you know what i speak of

he used the same logical inference to prove god....if i can think of god, then god exists....

but um, i do not believe in god, or gods....a necessary being is a different story....the difference meaning, this creator isn't, nor ever was, sentient.....which means, it doesn't know itz an it or what it created

So by your own definition you worship a god or gods, yet you yourself believe that you (and others) have created the very things you worship and question yourself. Yes, I can see why you're confused.

Ultimate Reality? No, far preceeding man.

lol Im not confused in the least. Philosophy is nothing more then theory so is religion but the two become seperated somewhere. I alone as an individual nor has anyone else the power to alone inact such an occurance but a vast group of individuals with the same needs and desires can. This is my theory and my philosophical (but not nessecarily religious belief). They are seperated for me therefore confusion is averted.

If we made the gods we can unmake them. Let's concentrate our efforts on that then, shall we?

World can do without collective illusions of that kind.

philosophy isn't just theories....and as i've said to sum here before, philosophy is more related to science than religion....

it proves itz theories thru justifications....as does science....and every science known to man first started with a philosophical concept

There are bigger "collective illusions" to worry about than ultimate reality, which, in the end, is undeniable. Not because it exists so obviously that we'd be fools to pretend it doesn't exist. But because to deny its existence is to deny all meaning to your life.

actually, that would put all meaning DIRECTLY on your life... to deny ultimate realite (as im reading it in this post) is to assume the self IS reality.

Denies all meaning to -your- life... not to one as me. Your "ultimate reality" is your own... one I shall certainly not deny you... however, it is not and never will be, mine.

Ultimate reality differs from person to person but is unified and total in the fact that it is all ultimate reality. Completely denying the ultimate meaning of someone else's life denies your own life's meaning.
