Recently I was speaking with a friend, and for some strange reason we ended up discussing feminism. In particularly the work of Dworkin . In my opinion the ladys wacko. We both basically agreed on that one , and would agree that feminism has definitely been on the decline. I was just wondering where everybody thinks feminism stands as of today , day-to-day life , the workplace etc . .

feminism died in the 1960s, since then weve seen femnazism, which is all about promoting the destruction of the home, the feminization and emasculation of males and the breakdown of the American family unit.

Modern feminists pretend that men and women are the same, not only in the eyes of the law (they, this one we all agree with) but also biologically, and that the only reason men + women do things differntly is because of culture and gender roles, as opposed to physical differences. (what we call bullshit)

Modern feminism is a blight, and its no wonder why most modern women dont want to be called or associated with modern feminism, alrthough they still reap the benefits of destroying men in our culture. Imbalanced family courts, they can accuse anyone of rape and ruin a life and get away with it. etc etc.

I agree with billy, feminism is now being taken to the next level of unequal rights in favor of women, opposed to the 1960s and before when they just wanted equality. Of course it will never die out, just like any prejudice, but i havent seen it become anything extremely worrisome in my lifetime.

My girlfriend is Chinese, naturalized citizen. We're living together right now. She cooks for me every night. She enjoys it. The only time we fight is over how much money I have to spend on things, she wants me to spend more on clothing, and groceries and boring shit and I want to spend it all on video games and cars

But she keeps me in check. She lets me be a man, we dont compete, she does what she does well and I do what I do well and we make a great team.

Ive dated "feminist" type women. And that is something I will never do again, the constant arguements, the "I dont need you to pay for my dinner" bullshit. It gets really old.

The only problem is there are a lot of young girls i know that are very feminist and imo do it for attention and something to believe in. If i try to make a joke regarding women in general it looks like they are going to stab me, but when it comes to males, its fine. W/e as far as i can tell this thread is basically done.

considering most of my female friends are married, engaged or involved, most having children...and doing it happily, i agree that modern feminists are over reactive...and fear they do more harm for females, than anything good...

the problem is there are still a lot of double standards that do still persist in our society, that's not exclusive to females, but it is the result of an archaic belief that because boys and girls are built different, they can't cross lines...fortunately i've seen where local schools are doing things to eliminate those lines.

i like that my girls play with cars, know it's okay to play with cars, and no one blinks that they don't like to play with dolls...if only boys had the same, options, it's sad that if a boy plays with a doll, he's ridiculed...that's what i'd like to see change.

while there are still some hurdles females as a whole need to cross, that is something they can do, if they desire it...and society is helping, but hard core feminists ruin that option, in the united states.

but in other countries?

if they really care about the plight of females, they should go overseas where women are still, second class citizens, even in our modern world!

Those girls will turn into 1 of 2 people.

1. Real feminists, and die with a lot of cats childless and possibly with a lesbian lover since thats the only people who will put up with them.

2. non-feminists, women who figure out that women actually got it pretty good in the USA and stop whining and dont mind being women again while men be men.

Schools teach less about battles and wars and competition, and more about mutual cooperation, emotion sharing and feminist and minority Icons.

maybe there'd be less divorce if there was a more equal expectation of men and women in the marriage...and men were encouraged to discuss what bothers them, versus locking up their emotions and not sharing with their wives...look at the growing rate of stay at home fathers, single fathers...i think that's a good thing to, that men can actually have a chance to get their children in a divorce, if the mother is not worthy...it's not like the "old days" when the children automatically went to the mother, and the father had to go through hell to do anything besides pay for them...

they give my daughter drugs to calm her down...but drugs are really irrelevant to the male versus female arguement...both sexes can get equally, hooked.

If you fucking think fathers have any rights to thier kids these days you are DEAD WRONG. Fathers rights over thier kids after a divorce are much the same as they have been the last 60 years. I am seeing this happen RIGHT NOW. My secretary just left her husband, she was a fat girl and he took her in paid for everyhting they had a kid. He bought her a house etc etc etc. She lost weight and started cheating on him with young bar guys. Shes a bar girl one of those types.

He paid and provided EVERYTHING all she had to work for was money for weed, her cell phone and shopping expences of her own.

Well she left, and took thier son. He tried to get custody of his son and the court basically told him to fuck himself (hes a white male) So NOW he gets to pay 600 dollars a month for her rent in her new apartment with her new much younger boyfriend who is a piece of shit. Oh he also gets to chip in on thier sons clothing, and he pays for his medical bills as well. She pays NOTHING. But the court decided he can pay everything. The house she wanted and made him buy? Yeah now he gets to sell that and give her half the money because like a good guy he put his wifes name on it (even though she put no money into it).

Yeah real equal.

Why does it have to be black and white? My dad cleans to relax, my mom builds things in her workshop that has every power tool you could think of. My dad doesn't even know how to work a measuring tape much less a router, and my mom can't clean worth a damn. She cooks dinner everynight, and doesn't expect my dad to help since the only thing he can make is Mac and Cheese with hotdogs. So are my parents setting a bad example by not adhering to "gender roles" and just doing what they love? I know how to build a bookcase, and I know how to cook a four course dinner for ten. Does the fact that I know how to run a jigsaw and a planer make me a "feminist?" Just because my mom taught me that I COULD NOT do anything I wanted because I might not be physically capable make her a housewife/slave to the man? If you wife wants to stay at home and cook dinner for you, and she enjoys it, Great. I'm not working at the moment, so I clean the house and cook dinner for my boyfriend so when he gets home from work he has dinner ready. I feel like I should, because he works all day and I just sit on my ass browsing darkforum and surfing the web.

But a year ago, HE wasn't working and HE made dinner for me everynight. I paid the bills and he cleaned the house. If something works for a couple, awesome. If not, leave them and find someone who you'll be compatible with. Don't knock other ways of getting the same shit done. As long as you eat, and the house is clean... who cares?

I consider myself a feminist, not because I have read any books on the topic or because I'm joined in feminist groups. I haven't. I buy and cook dinner, I have an awesome job - in fact I get paid more than he does. I clean because the house is messy and so will he. My gender isn't really an issue.

If you want to do something do it because you want to, not because your gender says you should.

I also am around guys a lot and I do feel that they think women want to be men. It's rubbish. I'd rather be a woman thank you very much. I can much accomplished like this...

personally i know several single fathers, including one who prevented his ex girlfriend from giving their child up for adoption, because he wanted a child...and he's doing well.

that doesn't work in this society anymore...for most two incomes are necessary to do anything, marriages fall apart and then two people are left to start over...

my mom was hosed in the divorce, having been raised and married as a stay at home cooking and cleaning mother...when my father cheated on her and she left him...she had no skills, no talents, nothing that allowed her to do more to raise us kids than cook and wait tables all hours of the night, leaving three children reaching their teens as latch key kids...doing anything we wanted...if she had some sort of skill, maybe we wouldn't have been raised in tiny apartments with no father and a mother who worked all she could...

my point is that the battle of the sexes shouldn't be a battle...both parent figures are as necessary for children of both sexes..what do you see as a resolution?

i agree there are bad feminists out there, and yes, men do get a lot of flack for archaic attitudes about the opposite sex...but reducing the rights that women have fought for...will not solve anything, anymore than your mysogynistic female author will.

Billy, sometimes I don't like the things you have to say, but when I do agree with you, I agree wholeheartedly. I'm 5'2", and there's no way in hell I can control a firefighter's hose, or haul a big man out of a burning building. My boyfriend CAN, but he hates kids. There really are certain roles in the workplace that one gender is better at than others, but there are exceptions. My best friend from high school can beat up my boyfriend and her boyfriend at the same time. I've seen her do it. Her brother is great with kids and would make an excellent kindergarten teacher.

Like I said before, I'm not going to fight for equality in the workplace because physically men and women are not equal. But if there is a woman who wants to be a firefighter and she CAN do the work, then I'll fight for her to be a firefighter.

No, I don't think that jobs are better done with different genders because that is subjective and is constantly changing due to society.

50 years ago, you wouldn't have a woman as a graphic designer, but now they dominate all design tertiary institute, and slowly we are taking over the design world. 50 years ago a woman would have been persuaded not to study graphic design.

Women doctors are in demand all over the world nowdays. But there was a time when society didn't believe in women doctors.

Just like once all teachers were men, now they are mostly women. Just because there are more women wanting to be teachers, doesn't mean that women make better teachers. It's about oppurtunity and society's views on it I guess.

We need to be more open minded about these things. Just because something is a certain way, doesn't neccessarily mean that it is that way because that is the best way or the only way. It's just that way for now.
