evolution factor - 01-05-02

in my head there are two animals i can think of that are on the brink of an evolutional change. all they need is that factor to change them. like in darwins theory that there is some factor that changes a being hence evolution. these animals are the hippo and the penguin. the hippo and penguin both spend tons of time in the water and there not exactly aquatic creatures. The hippo could have roamed all over the lang but being so big they might have had little to no defenses againts feirce preditors, so they moved underwater to be safer and have changed some but havent made that jump over the gap to become a totally different creature. and the penguin is a flightless bird so maybe once they could have flown but something changed that and then they took to the water well their good swimmers and fishermen and women too but still there on the edge of that gap waiting for someone or something to give them a push. in our day and age i think it might be upon us to help these creatures change. with all the advances science has come across maybe us humans are that factor darwin talked about. now im not saying that from now on nothign can change unless we do it , im simply saying that these two animals could perhaps acheive their dream and transfer to another beautiful being. thx any comments or questions are welcome thx again cody

Your evolution idea is a little off.
Penguins are descended from flightless birds, in their evolutionary tree none of their progenators ever flew, their wings were not evolved for flight and have a completly different structure to flying birds.

I don't think we have enough foresight to see what the ultimate consequences of interfeering with evolution. (Might be interesting though)

perhaps interesting, but almost certainly devastating... the is a greater chance that we would cause extinction rather than give advantage to a species... humans are impatient and we would want to change things on a visible level... shortening perhaps what would take millions of years to only a few generations, but rushing things that way makes it more likely that a genetic impariment would arise from out meddling...

just look at Dolly... she has arthritis now and scientists believe it has something to do with her cloning process

Creatures evolve to the environment they live in...what good would it do a penguin if it could fly, it would require feathers, and then how would they be able to catch food..there isn't exactly a lot of seeds and worms up in the poles where they live...they need the smooth featherless "fins" to make them swift and smooth in the water. Without feathers they dry faster and don't have to worry about them freezing...I have no idea about hippos...but I'm sure the Mother had her reasons for making them how they are...the only species I see that needs evolving his the human species...

Speaking of Dolly the sheep, whatever happened to Molly?
The second experiment was to Completly engineer a sheep without using an embryo, to initiate cell division from a non foetal cell, this sheep also grew up healthy and then suddenly disappeared from the limelight, this begs the question why?

There are too many holes in the evolutionary theory that we have been presented with all of our lives.

Supposedly an animal will evolve to fit around it's environment.. although how the genes within itself can even know enough to mutate correctly is beyond my understanding.. also the ooze that we started with somehow, although it shouldn't have, managed to do the right things in a short amount of time compared to the amount of time that it would actually take...

As for human evolution, I also find that puzzling since it states we gained our mental capacities due to the use of tools.. but we are not the only animals to use tools, yet those animals haven't really gained great mental prowess nor evolved like we have.

its not that the genes themselves know... its that a random mutation give a certain animal some advantage which is gradually heightened through the countless generations it is able to spawn because it and its progeny survived well enough to mate.

*slaps his forehead*

think for a moment errantogue... yes I know it's hard for you.. but please just try.

For the CORRECT mutation to occur that would require quite a long ass time, especially if there was no mutaginetic thingy lying about to help speed it up... in fact it would probably take longer then that which it seems to go at.... much longer. *pats you on the head*
