Dependant on the subject of attachment and the nature of the emotion.
Loving your parents is a good thing.
Loving your parents when they're selling your sweet virgin asshole for crack rocks is a bad thing.
so please specify. do you like nazis? do you like waffles? Then have we got a restaraunt for you!

Loving your parents is a good thing i suppose, and the bond that is formed may be a strength later on in life.
Loving them while they are abusing you, bad thing
so emotionaly strength can be both a strength and weakness i suppose In Russian accent"No sex for you!!!!!!"

but loving a parent who beats you good also be a good thing.......
emotional attachments are always good, even if they end badly......if you had it all to do over again, would you not date or fall in love with that person who remorselessly broke your heart?

Something is only a weakness if it goes against your survival or peace of mind...a robot can have no emotions but if you push him in a swimming pool a scream of terror might be the best policy.. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

For those of us on the emotionally intense side, it can be the bane and the saviour of our scrawny little lives. If it makes us die inside, so be it, it was an experience and forever there in our memory, good or bad, does it matter in the end? Weakness can be turned into strength and strength into weakness. Emotional attachment: Strength or Weakness?
Well if you were to really get an emotional attachment to someone. I can see that as a sign of weakness. Because when you are with that person. You expect them to be around you all the time and want the spot light to be directly on you. I concider that to be weakness cause you are allowing your self to get hurt by the person you are feeling emotionally attached to.
But if you weren't emotionally attached to that certian person. I seriously don't concider that to be a sign of weakness. I find that to be a sign of strength. Cause you don't have worry about that person hurting you.
The first thing that I have talked to you about describes me. I also need to learn not to be like that. I hope that I have understood your question well and answered it the right way.

If we can survive the experience, so much the better and we learn from it well. Not being emotionally attached to something may also be showing some form of indifference . . . just looking at it from another persective.
It depends on the type of emotional attachment, it can be just because we care a lot about someone (or something). Love and Death stand side by side holding hands

Like lets just say that you have a friend right. You begin to feel emotionally attached to them. How do you make your self not be so emotionally attached to them?

Better way is to purge by fire, to just emotionally burn it totally to it's full extent, down to it's ashes if you really don't want to feel so much. It can be either. If you support a person through an illness, for example, you are a stronger person that the guy who cuts and runs because he can't 'cope' or is just too bloody selfish.

You know I used to drown my self with alcohol. I used to drink alot every single day and drink way too much. Even when I would get up earlie in the morning. The first thing I would do is grab a beer with out ever brushing my teeth. My mom told me that it was a sign of a true alcoholic. But I don't do that as much as I used to. Plus I got tired of having to throw up from drinking so much. But you are right that isn't a way to go through your emotions. But if you don't have anyone to talk to things about it is hard to say "no to alcohol."

I wouldn't really say that though.

Depends who you have as friends and family, I've had too many people around myself in the past who've been too scared of their own emotional selves to care enough. Being an emotionally intense person myself, it seemed everytime I had some emotional problem, they'd be no one to listen or understand and I'd have to just go through it alone. Just the life I've lived. It's changing now sort of Love and Death stand side by side holding hands

Good i'm glad that your life is starting to change. I can so understand what you are going through on having to go through your emotions alone. It is like that for me since I have no friends anyways. I do have a family that I could talk to some emotional stuff with. But I rather not bother them with it. So I manily bottle up my emotions. Since I have a journal here at least that helps me out a little. You can check it out sometime if you like. Its in the friendship section and at the top you would see a thing that says "Online journals." Well if you ever need to chat with me about anything my Pms are always open.

Emotional attachment; strength or weakness?
Emotional attachment is a strength if you find it difficult. It depends on your expectations of an attachment.
Detachment is often a symptom of fear but is also an extremely useful tool. Learn as if you were going to live forever. Live as if you were going to die tomorrow. --Mahatma Gandhi
