I voted for pain. I never thought of cutters as fearing the lack of feeling more on the lines of hating it. Some people can hate without fear in my opinion.
I do not fear the Backstreet Boys. Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.

Love...it's the root of all three.
Nothing can hurt like love.
I've never hated anyone as much as one who hurt me
and I've never felt such anger as watching him kiss her, as he once kissed me. So it has to be love To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

PAIN... PAIN is the master emotion... | So you're saying that lack of love causes pain?
Then it's the lack of the one emotion that causes the other. Doesn't that make the former the stronger?

Is pain really considered an emotion though? From what I understand pain is a physical manifestation of an outer effect or influence if you will. I suppose you were talking about emotional pain. Duh that would make sense *smacks forehead*
In my opinion, I dont think any of them surpasses the other. I understand when some say that love is stronger because it is the cause of emotional pain, and it is what makes one hate another. There are flaws in this theory though.
First of all, hate can be caused by many things such as jelousy, envy or simply narcissism. Emotional pain can be caused by many other things as well. One can be mocked at school in adolecence causing emotional pain. It doesnt mean that the "child" had any feelings of love towards his tormentors.
Now one might fear the future loss of a loved one, or but that does not make the emotion any stronger. In other words, since the love caused the fear, and if this fear becomes reality, the causes of this will eventually establish an emotional pain or hatred in this individual. Then again a fear might cause someone to love an individual, and this love might lead to emotional pain which causes a hatred towards the source. Thus, these socially common emtions do not surpass one another, but work together in a never ending cycle for the purposes of individual destruction.
yeah...Im done.
I know I am not very organized and that there are many grammatical and spelling errors, but take into consideration that I wrote this in about ten minutes. I had to log off. ...and so these walls will one day be covered with images of that which I fear.

Kat | Lack of love, loving someone already taken, having someone you love abuse you etc. Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.

pain is an emotion... lets say, a baseline emotion. u can gather pain from any number of higher order emotions.
ever hear of the sayings "a pained expression"? or "that must pain him"?
while yes even below the baseline, pain can be broken down to neural impulses, once it reaches the brain it ceases to be a physiological function and becomes a psychological one... it is the psychology of pain that makes it an emotion... ___Nick_the_Rogue___ To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. Allright, I can see that. But as I gather from another thread on here, SI is using physical pain to substitute for not feeling anything else. That sounds more like replacement emotions. And from what I have gathered from both you and Red, it's lack of love, love betrayed, or loving the wrong person that is responsible most often for pain? Or have I misread that?
Wouldn't that make love stronger than pain? It seems to me that it would.

You read it right on me but I still think pain is stronger.
Love causes the worst pain yes but it doesnt effect everyone. Is the lack of love hate or indifference? Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.

Very little brings out more intense hatred than someone you used to love. So I suppose in that way... the diametric opposition of love is indifference. I still think hate is the flip side of the coin however.

I love pain, hate pain, fear pain.
Yes thats true, I said before that i might vote the way I felt at the time. All the arguements didnt effect me as much as I thought they would. Still interesting though. Work is of two kinds: first, altering the position of matter at or near the earth's surface relatively to other such matter; second, telling other people to do so.
