Unlike love, hate doesn't usually lead to sacrifice, which is why I rated love higher. Hate is more selfish, and self serving. In the end, I think it's more self-destructive, too.

I think hate is the opposite side of the same coin as love, yes... but they aren't diametrically opposed.

I have to disagree with you, here, Clearwitch. Love can endure if you work at it. Too many people aren't willing to do that, because they think it should be easy. It shouldn't and isn't. It's like anything else you want in your life. You have to be willing to work, compromise and sacrifice. That's romantic love, anyway.

What about family love? Love of a parent for his/her child? Love of a child for parents, or grandparents? If you think that will weaken and die, then I'm sorry for the kind of family life you have.

hate is by far the strongest emotion. Love is a false word. You say you love but you just like. If you love something then you will screw it over if a better thing comes along but if you hate then all your being is focused on hating, if that makes any sense.

hmmm a tough choice indeed: love, hatred,pain or fear, I think like it was already mentioned ,that one can not exist without the other.......pain whether induced or forced upon has either sprung from a fear or in the end caused one......for instance "we cut because of the fear of not feeling anything"..........and love and hate.........there is a fine line that seperates the two, both are done passionately and both can destroy worlds. but would it be possible to love if we did not know the meaning of hatred? to feel one we must feel the other.....or who truly knows what love is.......if you ask me they are just words, and will never truly be able to fully depict the pure emotion. so I guess I dont really have an answer they all have there moments I suppose.

first of all, im talking about the basic emotion, the feelings that are present no matter if you nurture them or not.

I'm sorry . My family has always been close. And believe me, my brothers and I put my parents thru hell. Brothers still are, for that matter. And they've never written any of us off.

I can't imagine my kids ever doing something so terrible that the love I have for them would fade, either. Protecting them is the only reason I can think of that I would die, or kill, for. Love like that doesn't fade.

I don't understand why some people ever have kids. Having kids you don't really want is foolish, when there are so many people who do want them, badly.

people have the tendency to make babies to try and keep their failing bond with their mates... for a while this works, but ususally ends with a divorce and an unhappy child...
