Ok, We know now from literary research that the Trojan horse wasn’t actually a horse, in fact in Ancient Greece “wooden horse” was a slang term to mean a deceptive offering or gesture and it’s more likely that the wooden horse of Troy was in fact an officer who appeared to defect to the Trojan side and then open the gates to allow the Greeks to enter.
Could it be that other stories of Homer were subject to “poetic license”?
Homer is also known as the Blind poet, bard or sage, but “Blind” in Greece at the time didn’t necessarily mean Blind as we know it, they didn’t use it just to mean “can’t see” but also to mean “didn’t see”.
In Greece at the time of Homer, Sages could only actually pen events they had seen themselves (a sort of copyright to protect the facts) stories could be told by anyone and embellishments were allowed but it was not “the done thing” to embellish facts on paper.
Could this reference to Homer being blind mean that he actually was blind and therefore could only pen accounts of events as told to him by others and therefore could only account tales with the spoken embellishments?
Is it not more likely that Homer took the tales of others and embellished them himself, that Homer was in fact the creator of written (intentional) fiction?
Other facts about Homer have however come to light in recent times through the discovery of references to him in other written works, they seem to indicate that Homer was not an individual but a school of individuals who wrote stories.
Could it be then that Homer was in fact any sage in ancient Greece that wrote fiction?
You promised me the ending would be clear
You'd let me know when the time was now
Don't let me know when you're opening the door
Stab me in the dark, let me disappear
hmmm...I've heard his stories, but don't think I ever read anything(greeks were never my cup of tea)but anything in history is similiar to my faith in the bible...who was there? that can acuratley say what happened and it is always written by the victors...Could be very well possible...

besides, whats wrong with dleving into homer simpsons psyche? huh?
and every english masters candidate wants to find dirt that noone else has on great writers for a whopping thesis... a good point IS that shakespeare bit where someone's thesis stated with "astoundingly accurate" evidence that the Bard was Sir Francis Bacon... ugh...

that I don't see? what is the drive people have to "deconstruct" great literates? can't they just accept that they had amazing talent...no matter who they were?

Never said you were:p but it happens a lot...when someone, anytime shows up with an amazing talent, people are so quick to tear them down...why? Is it jealousy...envy...why can't people just let amazing people be?

oh i dunno... the assyrians had some good poets who talked of their gods walking amoung them and killing the unworthy... of course that could just be a euphemism for Syphillis

It could be true, but then again, the evidence isn't satisfactory enough.
I want to live in a world of peace
Without conflict, like the one I’ve seen in my dreams.
I just can’t keep it inside
I’ve gotta say what I wanna say
Your face doesn’t show your fighting pose.
as will be the case when noone can remember them and America is just a myth of stories... with gods like Pitt the Unshaven Hero and the Ani-Stone with her globes of fire...
