no, i didn't mean that just philosophers are the only one capable.....i think that came out all wrong.....but look at it this way, the entire world is for or less divided into 4 groups of people....those with faith, those who trust science, those who question/philosophize, and those who just go about their day not givin' a rats-ass....

but you have to give it that those who question/philosophize (even if they aren't a student or scholar in philosophy) tend to be more open-minded and look at everything from a different angle....these are the people we generally consider to be "wise" and who we generally trust the most.....like, that old man who's gentle and nice and reads shakespeare and smokes his pipe and plays chess and tells you meanings about life....y'know?

and there are women in philosophy....more so today than in the past.....but thatz evident with anything.....i mean, you gotta figure thatz only been, not even a hundred years, since women have been able to do anything....

I do give it to those who question/philosophise but I give more to the people who then follow through with actions. Maybe I'm just too idealistic, I always have been. You'd think there should be great philosophers involved in politics, but I see none. The great thinkers have been replaced by the great illusionists.
I'm sorry about the off-topic foray into women's roles but I'd just had this lecturer who was making parallels between the 'modernist art movement', Nietzsche superman doctrine, Joseph Conrad's Heart Of Darkness and Apocalypse Now, it was like testosterone overload and no women's perspective at all.

Oh, you mean those 'wise' people like the woman who's raised six kids, worked fulltime, never looses her temper and knits beanies for cancer sufferers? Sometimes it's not listening to the talk but watching the walk that you learn most from.
