cloning can be done but is not, for whatever reasons, but considering the idea that a body can be cloned without the possibility of having a mind, or simply cognitive thought for that matter, what would be the harm of cloning spare parts for those in need, or cloning test dummies?

None... the reason they are banning it is for Moral and Religious reasons....

I am 100% all for cloning for implants....

i am only for cloning in the case of specifically grown replacements (like the ear they did on the rat a while ago)... one should not grow entire organisms just for replacement parts. you dont build a brand new chevy just to tear out its starter...

I agree with that, why create a whole being just to rip its a few organs out, its quicker to clone each organ anyway

but it won't be allowed.... too many people don't like it, altho I'm sure they would like slowly being killed by heart desease because no suitable replacement can be found even less...

Would it not be difficult to clone a working body part, seeing as we would have to first uncover the exact correct dna sequence behind that body part, then of course it would need to be fine tuned toward the person who would be receiving it, and then there would also be the possibility of it not even being accepted into the person in the first place...

Personally, my feelings on cloning even if it is done one part at a time is that it is simply not necessary. Nature has an order, and it needs to run it's course. Overpopulation is allready a problem, we have allready lost our individuallity, so why keep those who are lucky enough to leave this realm, existence, or whatever, around any longer than nature intends? I could be wrong but that's just me.

well since alot of the problems do not always stem from nature, and since no one in their right mind wants to die from a fucked up organ that CAN be replaced.... to not use what we know is to pretend ignorance....

why pretend we can't do it when we as a race CAN...

if we can do things to make life better for some why not ? we aren't gods of life and death why should we have the power to give life to some and not use it ? thats just plain evil and pointless

hmm.....overpopulation is a problem indeed, but first keep in mind that cloning is very costly and only those with great coverage and vast wealth would be able to obtain such parts......besides, does not mother earth have ways to try an defeat population? i mean, you take south africa, by 2010 the average life expectancy will drop by 40 years because of the aids epedimic, simply put, civilians in south africa will be figuratively wiped out; as for the rest of africa the life expectancy will drop by 20 years.......and, there is a new disease out there today (if it could be called a disease) which simply put advances hormonal growth.....for example, a three year old girl already having her period and showing signs of pubic hair, a seven year old boy capable of producing fertilized sperm, etc.....now the first case of this is rughly 20 years old, but anyway, this is a new problme, and to treat it doctors tried using this hormone stop thingy, but it has severe side effects, such as spinal destruction, muscle destruction, or some shit......anyway, if these children are gorwing alarmingly fast, perhaps they will die alarmingly fast....

Well , to answer your question, from my particular point of view , remember everything seems to be business oriented in this world (my opinion ), so buisness discriminates in order to position the product , from a market point of view , this by itself takes it away from a pure social approach supported on needs ethics and "sentimental logic " of humanity.

cloning still gives me the heebie jeebies.

a "no" to the cloning of whole bodies for the use of spare parts. the cloning of organs is slightly more acceptable in my mind. and yes, i'd rather die of some disease while waiting for a transplant than clone myself to use for later.

I have always wondered if clones would have the same fingerprints?
Identical twins don't, and they have the exact same genes... made from the exact same sperm and egg...
