but how can we agree on what is detrimental?.......like i agree letting a child see porn is wrong, but if the child knows where babies come from, what sex is, etc......then should not the child be "adult" enough to watch porn?
also, i agree that letting a seven year old watch porn is wrong, but what about a fourteen or fifteen or sixteen year old?
for christ sakes, most people lose virginity when they are still too young to "watch" pornography..........

sure errant, the child will still be a child in body, and perhaps in developmental level in a sense, but the sense of childhood is gone. it is fabricated and not natural. [as in instintive] but created. a hegemony [my lecture was on hegemonies in fact].
it's all shock horror for a child to have sex, but through history it has not been uncommon for girls to be married and expected to have children the moment they are physically ready to.
nowdays, children have lost the right to have sex. and be sexual beings. i'm stirring here, i know it. i hated a guy for saying the same thing. but i didn't really have an argument for it apart from the abuse of the child sex.
what is innocence? does it even exist? isn't it all relative and a creation of judgement?
sexual abuse should not occur with children or adults. Children should remain innocent until they can make the choice whether or not they are ready for something so emotional and so physical. Children who have been abused feel they have no power over themselves or others because they had their power of choice ripped from them. However, I loved porn at a very very very young age and would sneak out and watch Skinimax as soon as my parents went to bed. Did that make me any less innocent? I don't think so. I knew what they were doing and I was curious but I also knew I didn't want to be involved in anything like that any time soon.

The lack of maturity present in the very young is not a fabrication or a socal construct, in some cases even a lot of young adults arent mature enough to make choices in this regard that will not turn out to harm them but thats to a lesser degree.
They are not in the position to cope with emotional distress, its not that they should be sheltered from the entire world just from some of the things that they are unable to protect themselves from.
There was a scene from the movie Air Force One where the president`s teenage daughter was complaining about not being treated like a fully grown woman and said that back in cavemen times she would be a mother by now if I remember correctly he said: its called progress.
Saying that, anyone that wants to go back in time and make my babysitter have sex with me is more than welcome.
