| Bad Dreams visited every night! -
09-22-06
I'm about a week from seeing my doc and getting new drugs because the latest ones make me sleep too much, so i've been mixing them up with the last ones and the side effects have been a bit tragic really. I'm experiencing incredibly lucid dreams and I think they are in colour (shock, horror!)
I woke up this morning in absolute terror and had to share this dream to see if anyone can make some sort of comment on just how fecked up my brain is right now. I was out in the country, a small community where I was around two farmers and all the animals had to be put down for some reason. They'd all been put down except for each of the farmers favourite dog. There was a teary, emotional couple of scenes as each farmer said they were going off to peacefully put their dogs to sleep. I walked off when they dissapeared and opened a door to an outhouse and walked in. There was straw all over the floor in quality yellow (yeah, don't black and white dreams compartmentalise!) and one of the dogs was laid there on it's back with it's stomach wide open to the top of the rib cage. I couldn't believe that the farmer who'd killed this dog had done this, but then the lack of blood seemed a bit wierd and it was then I noticed some sort of intelligent reptile on the dog,it was a tan colour, it turned it's head round and looked at me with a lethal grin, mid feasting on the dog. I remember turning, horrified, going for the door and then woke up.
when did full colour dreams come into the mix? this stuff scared me shitless and although I am rather creative, I do tend to think my creativity is conscious and not unconscious in its workings.
I've been having solid vivid dreams like this since i've been mixing up my medication (yeah, yeah, changin to some older different stock i've got) but sometimes i'm scared i might go into a coma or something, never come out of a dream world that seems as vivid or more so than the real world i live in! ....I am the walking dead

OH MY GOD!!! YOU DREAMT THAT!!! Did you know I sometimes dream that I rape people and then chop them up and then get all terrified because I'm going to get caught, so I decide the best way to dispose of the body is to eat it?
And I'm not joking...well, except for the cannibalistic part...that I only dreamt once...but my dreams are sometimes borderline that path of pyscho-ness.
And what's with this "color" dream shit? I always dream in color. I never had a black and white dream (though I know many who have). I however, sometimes dream in cartoon...
BUT...not to be a dick or anything, why the hell is this in philosophy? Unless this has something to do with philosophy, it just muddies up the section. But, unfortunately I'm stripped of my awesome modness or otherwise I'd delete it or have it moved. So please, unless it turns into some sort of philosophical discussion (which I'm pretty sure it will) I'm going to ask a super-mod to move this thread elsewhere...just, fyi.
Anywho...as far as dreams go...they're just dreams man. I was masturbating

ive had some fucked up dreams also, (i do the cartoon thing sometimes too), I find that not complaining about them to people that I dont know on a board that is topic based is the best way to deal with them. __________ To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. well, it's more the colour thing thats a poblem, i'm starting to assume that the addition of colour is possible signs of complete mental breakdown, so was just wondering whether the really, really fucked up people could confirm that colour dreams signify you are over the edge and have moved from "sane but suffering psychotic episodes" to being classified "insane"
my mistakes for confusing philosophy with psychiatry. do we have a forum to move it to that comes under general psychiatry? ....I am the walking dead

Um...I guess either "General Discussion" or perhaps "Ways of Life." Not real sure about that one.
But I don't think dreaming has anything to do with a "mental breakdown." It's just dreaming man. People like to think too much when concerning dreams. Oh this means that, this symbolizes this, it's a way of talking to your soul, yaddah, yaddah, yaddah! It's nothing more than mental states remaining active so your brain doesn't become pudding. Like with certain animals...they dream because it's a way for them to keep-up on their defenses. It's your brains way of sayin' "Hey, I should like, keep fit! Here's a dream about you fuckin' your mother!" I was masturbating

nah, these aren't dreams, they are subconscious mental breakdowns, i'm sure of it. I'm used to chase dreams and freaky whining ones, but now I'm seeing them in colour (go round asking everyone you know whether they dream in colour or B&W and most if not all will say B&W) ....I am the walking dead

Actually, not true. Whether someone dreams in color or black and white depends actually on how perceptive they are when they wake...
It is possible to dream in either black and white or in color, but what really happens is when you wake up. Most people dream in color, but when people wake up, trying to recall a dream is a different story altogether, and what ends up happening is the memory of our dreams usually picks up the gray tones rather than the more vibrant tones. Ergo, it appears that you always dream in black and white. Your dreaming in color is probably what you usually do, and you're just more perceptive to it. The medication you're taking is probably in some way affecting your memory.
I for one have somewhat of a shitty memory, but I am highly imaginative and can remember stories or songs or ideas from years ago. Therefore, I never dream in black and white. And in fact, I don't think I have ever dreamt in black and white. And now I wonder if my memory is so good, if that could be a reason why I sometimes dream in cartoon. Hmm... I was masturbating

The problem has been diagnosed.
It is Drugs. In the beginning the drugs work, but then the body gets immune so you need to take more to get the same affect. Various drugs can fuck with your dreams and some can become so vivid that you actually have full consciousness which can be freaky.
Stop taking the drugs.
When I dream, I like to dream about Gadget with a razor with suicidal thoughts on the brain. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. yes, your dreaming in color is a tell-tale and unequivocal sign of your madness. it's the madness you keep inside yourself. seriously, though, dreaming in color or not is a pointless debate. you're only imagining color or black and white anyway, and you're not really imagining any colors at all. it's less like seeing a movie and more like... being told what is going on. but you don't hear the narrator's voice. the story is so vivid, and you're so not thinking, that your imagination takes over.
as an exercise, imagine an apple. a red apple, for example. try really, really, really hard. do you see red? no? do you see black and white? no. but you still see the apple. strange isn't it? that's what dreaming is.
and i think 666 is right yet again, dreams are just that - not real. what our brains do when they're turned off doesn't really do it for me philosophically.
and my dreams are in full color and sometimes so dull and normal that when i wake up, i'm confused because i thought i had been awake. now that's the most fucked up of all, especially early in the morning.
