He knew that this was a part of his life, what was keeping him alive… keeping him awake. Since he was a little, they were his only company. When he started to have friends, they left him for a while… They were gone and although he missed them, he was happy. But after some time, they came back. They had never left him after all… just hiding in a dark place of his mind… even somewhere in his heart.
But now he has made up his mind and this had to end. After all it’s his life, not theirs.
Therefore, one night he decided to make them go away and never come back…
He tied himself in a chair, first legs so that he would be still. The arms would follow later. He had to treat his eyes first. But he didn’t know what to choose.
Pins maybe? No… They wouldn’t be the right thing for that… Nails perhaps?
He finally used the tape. He opened his eyes so much and put tape on his eyebrow to keep them from closing. He didn’t know any other way; he didn’t have any other way.
He had to tie his hands to the back of the chair at the end, because somehow he had to be still and it had to last.
This night he was prepared. He wouldn’t let them have him this time.
No more nightmares for him again. No more suffering.

... He would never learn that He was actually only a creature of my own nightmares.

I loved the style, ended way too abruptly for my taste. Loved the point, loved the meaning in the story, but again I like my short stories around 5-8 pages. In the sense of the short story it's a masterpiece and deserves a five but it lacks certain elements that make it interesting, however fine-tooth comb that may seem.
