Screened Out

Is anyone else watching this? Every monday and wednesday night in June they're showing marathons of movies with some type of gay imagery made before the 70's. They're showing 44 films in all.

Anyone else with TMC watching this? I caught it on monday. I particularlly liked the film "Exit Smiling".

perhaps they should do a straight only marathon. oh but that would be homophobic.

when the fuck will people get the idea that equality means no special treatment to any sexuality or race or division?

sort of related... i saw a news story saying that some dykes are suing eHarmony.com because it is only for heterosexual christians. Arent there millions of gay for gay dating sites she could use? Fucking cunt. But remember... they are NOT forcing ANYTHING on you!

Can you not get past the fact that the marathon is gay themed, or do you just not like old movies? Cause I really just wanted to discuss the movies themselves.

i like old films. i love films of all style and age. unless the film is complete shit.

unless the film is shit because it is supposed to be, or funny because it is shit. (troma movies for example are great because theyre low budget, shitty, and funny)

hell, i watch TCM alot. specially on halloween. (if i'm not out) older horror movies are the shiznit. and TCM seem to always pick the best.

i've seen most of those films, the haunting being one of my favourite scary movies of all time infact, first time i ever saw it was on a TCM scary movie session on halloween. they're all brilliant films. i can't say anything bad about them. infact, i can only praise them as films.

i can think of some other gay style films that should be in that list though, if there was a need to make such a list. and i wouldn't consider them too new for TCM, after all, it's about classic movies. and a classic doesn't have to be an old film.

i didn't mention it because it's gay themed, i mentioned it because anytime TCM has any type of marathon (birthday, holiday, whatever) they show rare movies. case in point, "Exit Smiling". a rare silent i've wanted to see for a while. did i like it because it was a woman dressing up as a man? no. it was just a really good movie. did i watch "Queen Christina" because she may have been a lesbian? no, i'm just a garbo nut. heaven help me if they show and fred astaire or louise brookes movie, i'll cut work!

and do you think i not get annoyed whenever someone goes on a rant about equal gay rights? of course i do. just about as annoyed as when someone rant ABOUT those people unprevoked.

in my mind, all i mentioned was an interesting movie marathon. would you have gotten as offened if i made a thread about the anthony perkins marathon? the man made some damn good movies besides psycho, in my opinion. or is it just a knee-jerk reation to flipout whenever someone mentions gay, whether or not it was in the way that bugs you?

Actually I heard an interview with the eHarmony guy on NPR a while back. Its open to all religions, but not gays. Sucks for the gays, but I guess the guy has a right to provide whatever service he wants.

i don't have any kind of objection to anything YOU mentioned or have done. in my mind, theres no issue with you whatsoever. i dont care if, when and why you choose to watch these movies and why. and i never posted anything to that point at all.

my post was in reply to the having a gay only thing. that's all. nothing more, nothing less. my reaction to having a gay only night being silly because it doesn't promote equality, it singles out something that shouldn't be.

Hmm, oh well I thought it was only for straight Christians thats what the thing said on the newsreport I watched. But yeah, he has a right to service a specific group if he wants to.
