not suprisingly and well deservedly [da mn is that even a word?]

it is well deserved, but i can only cross my fingers because in the past the academy hasn't gone with fantasy movies, they've traditionally gone with drama's like 'a beautiful mind.' if it does win though i think it will definitely be a turning point for the fantasy genre.

I'm going to say; WHAT THE HELL??! While LotR got it's just accolades, A.I. got ONE nomination??? ONE???!?!? And Final Fantasy got a big fat zero? What the fuck?!

i think one of the biggest upsets on the entire list is that WAKING LIFE didnt get nominated for best animated feature! JIMMY NEUTRON?? c'mon!

heh. and remember when haley joel osment was a shoe in for an acting nomination for A.I.?

actually it received two. best FX and best score. i think it also should have gotten one for best cinematography as well. but what WAS nominated in that category is fine.

not to take anything away from LOTR but i do think A.I. should win the FX award. the effects in A.I. were so subtle and so well integrated.

i think momento should win best editing hands down. the editing on that film was pure genius.

I'm sorry, no. Final Fantasy should have had Best Animated Picture locked. And yet it wasn't even nominated. WTF?

i think for the effort..FINAL FANTASY should have been nominated. but i do not think it should have won if it had been. it was just too plodding. it didnt come off right.

yeah memento was really very clever and differently done.

i think moulin rouge probably only beats lord of the rings on costume design and make up, but I'm torn for foreign language film between amilie and lagaan.... hmmmm....

i don't care about public opinion, but i would've liked to have seen momento win that award. that was completely the video editors movie and was absolutely brilliant, but instead an academy of dumbshits gave it to a run of the mill edit job.

of course it didnt win. oscars are AMERICAN. lotr was not an american film. the american twat fuckwitted leaders dont like non-american filmy tings getting more awards than them they cant handle not being the best so they dont let it win. fucking assholes.

-sighs- We care about the opinion of other people when it affects decisions such as the Oscars do. When someone in the film industry has an oscar hanging over their head..they are more likely to get jobs because in the beginning oscar=good film but really oscar=popular big money film. So the filmmakers who did a wonderful job and don't even get nominated...get jyped out of the acclaim and perks that come with winning.
Like for instance when a movie comes out and the trailer tells us who is in the movie if one of the actors is an oscar winner..they announce that...and often with the stupid minded people that live in these grand united states...(thanks to England for sending their best and brightest to start off the party) without worry of what the movie is about...their interest might be peaked just to see the performance of the "oscar" winning actor...or director or screenwriter etc. So, essentially its a big deal. And....we worry when we like a film far more than another and yet it gets nothing.

I watch films by directors I like, generally. Very few of these directors get Oscars.

Hell, do you know how many "Citizen Kane" won? One. Best screenplay. Now acclaimed as the best film ever (it IS awesome), it didn't win awards because people in Hollywood were peeved that the "young upstart," Orson Welles, got such an awesome contract.
