Originally titled "Dead Reckoning", "Land of the Dead" seems to be having problems, Fox Searchlight isn't letting Romero do things the way he wants to, SIGN THIS and tell them to let Romero do things his way, which will be the right way. we need a new Living Dead movie to come out, and Romero is the master.

Romero is definately the master of the Zombie movie. Though I think Lucio Fulci comes in a close second.

Fulci is alright... definitely better than Argento... fucking argento and his heaping no-win on no-win...

it was bad enough that people came back after death... now they've got CLAWS and PUSS and all sorts of stuff that just sucks the fun out of fighting for one's life. random turning, people turning who shouldn't, people NOT turning who should, random metal freaks starting it all. fucking Demons.

I think any zombie movie director should have at least some sense of realism about it. The zombies from Fulchi's ZOMBI (released in america as ZOMBIE) trilogy were pretty damn realistic.

i seem to remember one death that i attribute to a fucli film that bugged that hell outta me.

it was when a zombie was pulling a girl face first (or was it Eye first?) into a long splinter... now, im sorry, but all she had to do was duck her head over that long, slow process of compounding horror and drama.

Shush you! That's one of my favorite scenes of all time. And it's not as if the character was too terribly sane at that point.

It was eye first, Errant. And she, in typical horror movie monster fodder fashion, didn't realize all she had to do is duck. Of course, rigor mortis-ed musculature is some tough stuff. She may not have been able to duck without ripping her hair out. Or maybe even her scalp.

You still think she might have closed her eye...

I'm going with the slightly insane thing, though I was also under the impression that the zombie had in her a pretty good death grip and she couldn't really fight it. With the way her husband was treating her and the fact that now those things were in her house, it really is quite logical that she had fallen over the deep end and at that point who knows what she was thinking.

hair or eye, i'd rather be bald... and she could have side stepped as well.

there was a similar scene where the uncredited Emilio Estevez bought it in Mission:Impossible... at least THAT scene had a plausible time table in which he had little time to react. That was the only scene i flinched at, by the way.

My personal favorite scene in ZOMBI was when the Conquistador zombie woke up and bit that chick before he got his head squished with a stone cross... or whatever it was that they crushed his head with.

i must've had a customer for that one... (we put them on the tube at work).

The zombie on the cover of the movie? With all the worms crawling out of its eye socket? Its right after they stop running through the woods because they find the medieval helmet?

hmm... i also seem to remember an old spaghetti with giant mutant rats that were basically dogs with suits. and, to escape, they turned a bathtub over and walked to the beach. anyone remember?

I am so psyched about this film I can hardly sit still.

im just wondering how George is going to explain how a group of surviviors built this place... cause it all looks post-apocalypse-fabricated... and for some reason i doubt the zombies would stand around and let them put up a big wall like that without swarming... especially in a urban center.

Maybe they built it Omega Man style. They had a place there and each day they would go out and scrounge for stuff, bringing it back by nightfall. Eventually, a fortress was concieved... or something like that.

possibly... but i don't remember millions of omega zombies... just like twenty or so.
