i don't know who started throwing around 'epic' as the newest movie review buzzword, but narnia is the furthest thing from epic there is. well, unless by epic they mean long and boring. then it's epic^2. i wanted to like this movie and actually looked forward to it, after all it was the first series of books i read as a kid, but after about 30 minutes into the flick i was already hoping it was going to end. maybe it's 'cause i haven't read the story in 20 years and the story actually sucks that bad, but it just seemed too childish. like a dumbed down version of harry potter. Wow.. really? You're the first person I've spoken to that didn't like it. I'm absolutely dying to see it. Unfortunately, I'm forced to wait for the DVD release.
I even went back and reread the books in order to gear up for the movie. I'm sad that you didn't like it. In Memory of the Busby Babes :

I will wait for the DVD to come out too... doesnt seem impressive enough to go see it in the flesh. Like a pale version of Harry Potter/LoTR

i wasn't that impressed either.
i thought it was drawn out. it had good points, and it told the story. but i must say i have better memories of the 1988 bbc versions. The kids acting was good, as was the choice of actors (other than the ice queen) but yes in bits i was thinking "ok this sucks, when is it going to get to the end bit" and "this could have been done so much better" and finally "oh that was a quick ending. boring fight too"
i do realise it was a kids book, but i didnt think it was a book written like one of those pathetic "jimmy went to the shops, he found a magician. the magician said save our people in googooland so jimmy killed the bag guy with a sword and all was well"
i havent read it recently, it's only just come into my charts at work. i was suprised though to find it was only a cm thick including film stills.
brothers grimm was a more entertaining evening flick. if you're thinking of getting a magical story on dvd and watching it with a drink and some popcorn, just to chill out and relax and not put much strain on your mind, narnia is a good choice. if you're just had your brain transplanted with a sheep's. i'd say, watch something different. it just doesn't live up to the hype and the title it deserves. If you think a forum is going downhill, you have no-one to blame but yourself.

it was a great movie, I think it was just as good as watching the Lotr, and i can't wait till the next movie comes out.
it was a great movie and the Production team was amazing, being it was the Same as LOTR.
and i feel it's the half way point between Harry potter & LOTR The axe is family, and for the family

I don't like Harry Potter, Narnia, and LOTR being compared. They're 3 vastly different books with vastly different characters and vastly different tones. In Memory of the Busby Babes :

they are completely different books. completely different ways of writing, and looking at the world. different worlds, different everything.
only similarity is that tolkein and c.s. lewis studied in the same place once.
same with hairy pothead. except the closest that woman will ever come to tolkein or lewis is by standing next to their burial sites, or reading their books to nab ideas from.
as for pothead films being like lotr, fuck off. no way. the lotr trilogy of films are in a league of their own. there is nothing like them. If you think a forum is going downhill, you have no-one to blame but yourself.

These were the first books I read as a child, they've always been dear to my heart, and I don't like the idea of Hollywood bastardizing them. I remain cautious.

I actually was never interested in Harry Potter until recently. The movies are pretty fucking entertaining. I cannot lie. In Memory of the Busby Babes :

i love the movies in their own right, i own the three released so far, and watch them quite a bit. theyre excellent as movies but the books aren't written too well at all.
just to compare them, well. its not done. If you think a forum is going downhill, you have no-one to blame but yourself.

If you watch the Featurette it says that the WETA team winners of 4 academy awards for their work on lord of the ring, so yes it is the same production crew. who get hired by disney this time not new line. because being that both movies where really huge effects movies the effects team are the main production crew.
2. if you anything about the tolkein and c.s. lewis you would know that they where good friends and asked each other for advice when writing their stories.
the stories share alot income to each other. As the series as a whole,
the harry potter series is a great and as a good of movies the stories are very interesting.
The 3 stories as a scale of epics, the harry potter, then Narnia, then Lord of the Rings as the biggest epic piece.
thats what i meant as being the halfway point, The axe is family, and for the family

Everyone has their own opinion.
I enjoyed Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings.
The movies I haven't seen yet are Narnia and the Star Wars Movies.

I didn't think it was that bad, if anything they could've stretched it out to make it longer. "To be politically correct, I am not a klown.
