I don't wanna put up a buncha spoilers but I basically wrote a review for it there if you want to see my full thoughts on it. All in all though I was a bit disappointed in it, I really had my hopes up for it since summer. I read the novel sometime ago and loved it, which may explain why I was let down by it. It wasn't a terrible movie though, just kinda average.

This is the third movie attempt they've made so far, and no one has gotten it right yet. I'm not sure I'll even bother seeing this one...I was watching the previews and saw him with that dog and realized they'd fucked up one of the best parts of the book right off the bat.
Ah well...the least they could do is make a campy version of it...they could ask the Governator to play his vampire next door neighbor. I'd get a kick out of seeing Arnie out on his lawn screaming "Come out, Bennett!" Shadowborn To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

I was only aware of three film versions of the story. There's The Last Man on Earth starring Vincent Price (probably the most true to the original); The Omega Man with Charleton Heston (no vampires); and then the Will Smith version.
I just want to know why they keep wanting to make him a doctor. In the original, he was just a normal 9-5 guy in the suburbs, an everyman. He has to study to try and understand what's happening and what caused everyone else to change. Shadowborn To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You're point #3...
Exactly what I thought. I liked it, despite it's deviation from the original concept. But dude, the third point you made was dead on. The draw to this concept is the complete aloneness you'd feel through the guy's situation, and it was botched with that hooch.

Fucking movies never go with explanations. It is easier to just toss out the easiest notion and move on.
"How would he know whats going on??"
"" Well he could pick up books at the now abandoned library and learn whats going on through tedious years long research!!""
""Fuck that tedious shit, I got it!!! He is a Doctor and he worked on the project;;;; IE He automatically knows his shit and the audience is not led astray!!"" Just got through the IMax version.
Overall it was a good movie. Will Smith does a good job acting and you can feel the loneliness and sympathize with him the whole ride.
I was a little let down at the end BUT it was still a great ending. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. S.O.D. the movie was way better than i thought it would be after reading the comments here. from my point of view, it's mainly a psychological drama and in that respect i found it fierce and poignant. like dyshade, i didn't like the ending much - trite and formulaic. but will smith was amazing. i'm glad i saw it on the big screen. I've read some good reviews, and I've read some bad reviews. I never pay much attention to any reviews, because usually they're all crap anyway. It just got released here in the UK, but I don't see myself wanting to wade through chavs to see it in the theater. So I'm going to wait for the DVD. I watched "Enchanted" though.
