Raimi & Campbell Remaking The Evil Dead:

"Spider-Man" franchise director Sam Raimi and original producing partners Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell are reteaming to produce a remake of the cult hit The Evil Dead through Ghost House Pictures and Senator International, reports Variety.

Raimi wrote, directed and produced the 1981 film, which tells the tale of a group of friends who go to a cabin in the woods, where they find an unspeakable evil lurking in the forest. One by one, the teens become deadly zombies. With only Ash (Campbell) remaining, it is up to him to survive the night and battle The Evil Dead.

Raimi will not direct the remake, so Ghost House is looking for a helmer to reinvent the franchise before a script is written.

The only genuinly freaky film of all time was The Exorcist. Most evil can be run away from if you have at least an average IQ. Even if you're not that bright, mortal danger should set off some kind of alarms.

i mean.....ok, is it the evil dead (as in, the original evil dead)....or is it just the whole idea that encompasses the evil dead and evil dead 2?........

anywho....it'd be kooler if raimi did it, but if campbell's gonna be in it, well....i guess i can't object too much.....

but i dunno....part of the thing that made evil dead such a classic was how it was done.....i mean, just the fact that they really did find an abandon cabin to film in, and how all the twitching body parts were raimi's friends beneath the floor boards with their arms and legs sticking through......so, i dunno.....we'll see

if it goes all hollywood like (like Army of Darkness) then fuck that!!!! fuck it to hell!!!!! but if retains that whole cult-classic b-horror flick many of us come to love, then yay!

B-horrors cannot be made without the aid of a time machine. We cannot re-create that feeling, espeially in remake form. Nowadays bad horrors are just bad, ie Cabin Fever..if that's what it was called..there I go again!

Cabin Fever was pretty good actually.

They never said that Campbell is going to be in it....
He is involved because he owns the rights to the character 'Ash', but so far there has been nothing about him being in the movie or reprising his role.

Yes it does, as Kain appears to be part of that MovieBitch thing, and so it would be good if he could recognise the appauling, cringeworthy acting on display in Cabin Fever, along with the complete lack of drive and what seemed to be a confused premise.

He is also in 'Bubba Ho-Tep' and has claimed to be coming back for the sequel. Plus I don't think that he has to worry too much about cash....

'Cabin Fever' was a good movie. It was filled with awesome dark humor and over-the-top violence...what isn't there to like? Yeah the acting was crappy, but it just adds to the humor, you can't wait for the characters to die.
