It's just a petition type of thing to get them to bring back Firefly. If you at least enjoyed the show or the movie, take a second to visit their website.

I don't know that a second season would be any good. Book is dead. Wash is dead. Wash was great comedic relief for me and one of my favorite characters.

Furthermore, they didn't exactly leave Serenity open-ended enough to continue with the crew v. Alliance storyline. It seems as though after the debacle on Miranda, the Alliance would be running scared. They could continue the plot, but I don't know how interesting it would be for me.

I like it being a cult classic the way it is, that wasn't truly given the chance to shine.

But the movie isn't necessarily the television show. They are rather different in many aspects, so why would a second season of Firefly follow after Serenity, and not just the first season of Firefly? Which, I would assume it would. After all, most fans view the two completely seperate from one another. I don't know about you, but Serenity doesn't give me any closure.

That doesn't make any sense. End of season 1 the Alliance is still after River, and we don't know why. Inara is still on the boat. Kaylee and Simon haven't gotten together. Book is still on the boat. Wash is still alive.

What kind of dramatic effect is that when we already know that eventually River will thwart the Alliance AND the Reavers.. Kaylee and Simon's will they won't they has already been decided.

From what I understand, Fox would never give up the rights to the show even if they aren't going to do anything with it. Joss Whedon has said he might continue the Firefly universe in a show but that it "wouldn't be Firefly." I could get behind a spin off series (I believe they can do one without Fox).

I suppose if they did continue Firefly itself, I could get behind it but they would need a new direction after what happened in Serenity. I agree with Meaghan in that there would be no point in making it take place before the movie. I certainly don't want anyone to come along and say that Serenity didn't really happen or was an alternate universe or some nonsense like that. I love that movie and feel it wrapped things up pretty well even if some things don't go along with the series *exactly.*

Well, the reason for the Browncoats (the organization that put up that website) is to decide what format to make the show available in (television, computer, or straight to DVD) after they buy the rights from Fox . . . assuming, of course, they buy the rights from Fox.

Joss Whedon does not have enough money to buy the rights from Fox. Fox is rolling in the dough from royalties. They will probably never sell and if they do the only place I see with enough dough to bankroll a purchase is the Sci-Fi Channel. Sci-Fi right now is banking it on Stargate and its spinoffs as well as B/G.
Joss would probably work with Sci-Fi because they are cool. So we can all only hope that they might buy the rights. You could not create a spin off without owning the original rights so that would be out of it.

but yes, i have seen the site in the past, but i wouldn't sign up to another series of firefly. spin off, yes. firefly-verse based series, yes. Jayne series? OH HELL YES I WOULD! as long as it includes the episode where jayne creates "jaynestown" and dumps all that money on the mudfarmers. just for giggles. that'd be brilliant.

and yes, inara n00dz would be nice, but i actually prefer kaylee. maybe it's the general rough around the edges, sexy, ragged tech girl with a dirty streak i like. or maybe the fact she's just so damn hot. who knows?

i'd like a series in that verse. but not firefly season 2. it seems wrong. i know that if anyone could write it proper it'd be whedon, his skills go far. but i don't think he should.

I just don't understand this whole unfinished series thing going on. Why start something you ain't gonna finish.
There's so many series that I love that get canned, I get dubious when new ones come along so I don't do the "NOOOO!!!, don't leave me hanging here" when the inevitable arrives.

I think it is possible to have a continued series to Firefly since well there really is o timeline to say when the series took place to when the movie took place. Well at least none that I remember seeing anyways. I'll take a look at the site later and decide if I will sign it or not.

Feck continuation, why not go back to the War with the Alliance prior to Firefly and the possibilities are endless.
