I saw this trailer when I went to see We Are Marshall a bit ago. Anyone else going to see this in theaters? I was vaguely disappointed by Fantastic Four. The acting sucked. And I've always loved the Silver Surfer storyline.
Wonder how it'll go. We all know Marvel movies are 50/50 on the cool front.
I wasn't impressed by the first movie at all. I was really disappointed with the Dr. Doom makeover, as he's one of my favorite Marvel villains of all time.
What I'm worried about with this second one is whether they're going to use the Galactus origin for the Surfer, or screw it up entirely. Either way, I think Marvel fans are going to lose.
If they screw with it like they did Doom, it'll be a pointless, stupid change that won't offer anything better than what was in the original comic story.
If they keep with the original, I see one long, drawn-out fight as the movie, with Galactus being introduced only at the very end of the movie (picture a big shadow from his spaceship eclipsing the sun and casting a big shadow over the city, ala Independence Day) some silly "Oh Shit" line from the Human Torch, and then roll credits. Now we've got one giant hook dragging us to see FF3.

*groans* You're probably right Shadow. I won't be seeing it in the theaters in any case. I'll rent it. I'm not in any great hurry to see them fuck up another piece of my childhood.
Early in life I had to choose between honest arrogance and hypocritical humility. I chose the former, and have seen no reason to change.

It is rare for any comic movie to stay true to its comic counterpart. FF The Movie was not too bad except for some of the crappy acting. It could have been better. Silver Surfer is a great idea. Expect more crappy acting though because it is the same group of people coming back.

It looks like they actually pulled his image off quite well, I just hope that unlike it's predesessor is not filled with cheesy dialogue where mostly action and special effects should be.
