donnie darko is a head fuck movie, pure and simple. it's got everything from the neighborhood crack pot grandma to an imaginary bunny rabbit. donnie wakes up one night to the sight of a six foot tall bunny rabbit who leads him outside and reveals a doomsday message to him. throughout the next month he visits donnie and starts telling him to commit violent crimes in his city. the movie is hilarious and presented pretty well, i just thought that they could have head fucked a little bit harder. it seemed like it had room to expand i mean after all, the fucker is listening to a bunny rabbit. anyone else see it? what'd you think about it?

Wow! Looks like another movie we agree on ArSiNiK. I have watched Donnie Darko almost everyday since it came out. I love how this movie fucks with your head and how the more you watch it the more you notice different things. I don't think I would have changed a thing about this movie...I mean I think anything more and it would have been stupid.

really? hmmm.. i was thinking that they could have expanded on the whole thing-that-bails-outta-the-chest, the manipulation from the rabbit and even the letter that he sends to grandma death.

Damn... I'm now interested... I need to get the hell out of Missouri . (we have a hell of a time getting good movies here; we only get the huge blockbuster films normally).

it should be in your local video store, cervix... you do have a video store in your town, right?

i saw this film but did not fall in love with it as much as i would have hoped. i was almost hoping that there shouldnt be more but that there should be less. i wanted it to be a little more vague. thats not to say that everything is spelled out. there is room for interpretation.

it seemed to me that the director was just feeling his way around at times. maybe trying to be a bit david lynchian in some regards. but it didnt have that natural oddness of flow that lynch can do so effortlessly.

this isnt to say that i didnt like the movie. i did. especially when the ending comes. but as a whole it just didnt get to me all that much.

well, we both seem to agree that it could have done something a little bit more. i'd still recommend it to anyone out there who hasn't seen it yet...

It says something when the medium sized university is one third to one half of the total population... (where I am now).

I'm going to go and rent it today.....I simply cannot pass up the opportunity to watch a kid talking to an imaginary bunny rabbit. It's very David Lynch-ian.

you would think that if the population was mostly college kids that the surrounding neighborhood would be full of decent video stores, clothing shops and a ton of fast food restaurants.

i know this is an old thread, but i searched before i posted a new one.

definitely my favourite film this year, bought it on dvd the day it came out. a film that certainly brings out the creativity of the viewer.

I loved this movie. After I rented it, I watched it multiple times.I just bought it on DVD. It was brilliant. One of my all time fav movies.

I also highly recommend this movie to those who have not seen it. It's vague enough to allow viewers to think and interperet on their own what has happened (which I think adds to the phsychological impact), and yet it shows enough to keep the storyline-impaired from saying "huh?" at the end. I love it just the way it is. It's very unique, which is rare for a movie these days.
