The new season just started tonight. And there was a lot of uproar about Catherine Tate being the new companion. Personally I can't stand her and don't find her funny. I was fully prepared to be disappointe and had resigned myself to listening to her screeching for 50 minutes every Saturday.

It just ended. And I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised. She was actually entertaining, and for once The Doctor of my generation has a companion that isn't just there to further a romantic sub-plot or as eye candy.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Any show that has babies made from human fat has to kick ass.

she didnt do too much of her annoying screaming shit, and hopefully it'll be a great series.

thank god they're going to break it up with martha and rose in this series so it won't just be her.

I thought it was fantastic. You have to wonder if maybe they listened to the feedback and toned her down a bit. She was great.

i could leisurely watch an episode on bbc2 and then on 3 each week, so as not to worry about missing part of the program.

You also talked about babies made out of fat, but then that isn't really any weirder than anything else that's made it on the list of alien encounters for the show.

Now that's it has finally aired here in the states, this thread might see a bit more life.

I'm not sure how long Tate is going to be his companion, but it was interesting seeing Rose back in the picture...briefly, anyway.

I found the episode to be damn entertaining, but the whole evil nanny nursmaiding fat babies was...meh, a little retarded. Still, at least now I know what happens when you put two sonic devices in contact with each other.
