| Which Buffy is Better? -

This is hard question to ask. Which did you think was better Buffy The Vampire Slayer the movie or Buffy The Vampire Slayer the television series. See to say that one was better than the other for me would either ruin that I watched the movie over and over and over again, learning the chearleading move's mimicing their oh so hilarious valleygirl talk and drooling over Luke Perry in his ONLY good role OR I'd wonder why I watched as many Buffy episodes I could. See to me, they are the same concept story, but two entirely different entities. Both comedies, both vamp slayer flicks but somehow probably from the movie's box office failure, they manage to co-exist without friction.
IF you have seen the movie and the television series please vote for which one you think and explain yourself.

Sarah Michelle cause she sorta looks like my g/f, and because the movie sucked. The makers destroyed Joss Whedon's Call of Cthulu style vampire concepts in favour of classic style vampires. The series is heaps better.

The series is better, mainly because you know the characters a heck of a lot more, there have been numerous storylines, etc etc etc.

It'd be unfair to compare a 90 minutes movie with a six season show in terms of quantity, so I'll go with quality. On which grounds, the movie is better. The series is good, but it was best during the first three seasons. The fourth was alright, but most of what happened after that sucked. I dislike Buffy, and I hate her entire family and want them to die. And Reilly or whatever his name is needs to die a horrible death to. Angel was mildly annoying, but Reilly just makes me want to reach through the computer screen and kick his teeth out. Same thing with Buffy's sister. Basically, they've turned the series way too much into the entire Universe revolving around Buffy, i.e., the "Xena Syndrome".

That's a really good point Messiah. What happened to the concept of remaining hidden to prevent the enemy from knowing who to attack? I mean, The movie was great because she had to encounter all kinds of personal problems because of this sudden discovery that she was not who she thought she was and who can forget such lines as.."Do you talk to Elvis?...Do you...see spots?", and "Get out of my Facial!" Or the scene where she's walking by her boyfriend and his friend and his friend like whacks her ass and she flips him over her head instinctually. And everyone in the hallway flips out. The Prom scene at the end..-shakes her head- Rudgar Hower as Lothos...AH..-drools-

Movie had excellent writing. Series is good, but to me, the movie was better all-around.

I think the movie is also better for consistency. There was nothing about the movie that annoyed me. Even during the first few seasons of Buffy, there were some mistakes. Amilyn and Lothos just kicked ass (Amilyn is the guy in the jacket. You know, "1200 years old and you still act like a child" guy. Fifteen minute death scene? I found out his name by looking it up in the credits, they don't actually mention it in the movie). I actually LIKED Buffy's boyfriend (not the jock one, Luke Perry or whoever it was), something I couldn't say about any of the ones she had in the series. And I love that song Lothos plays on the violin near the end of the movie. What the Hell is that song CALLED? Anyway, yeah, the movie was definitely better. More I think about it, more I'm convinced.

the series... hands down, the series... i liked the pilot much more than i ever liked kristy swanson... two reasons... Giles... and Xander... two people in which to indentify

the movie only had one topic... the satire of teen society when coupled with vampiric hoards...
the series covers so many subjects from young adulthood on to maturity over its seasons that it has more intrinsic value... while i know the arguement has been made that the movie was 90 mins and the series is going on six large, i believe the legions of fans who loved the series back when it was just starting out faaar outweigh people who actually liked the movie...
