From Sept 14 in Dutch cinemas, I don't know when it starts playing in other countries.
Director Paul Verhoeven and screenwriter Gerard Soeteman worked on the screenplay over a period of almost 20 years.
Finally it is finished!
I'm really looking forward to seeing this new Dutch film.
Good thing about it I think is that the Dutch, German and English characters in the story will each speak in their native languages.
It was interesting seeing the city of The Hague and Hardenberg transformed back to the 1940-1945 period with flags, tanks, roadsigns etc.
Some of my friends are extras in it as soldiers and people in the crowd :-)

kids I went to school with were in Airborn or whatever, which featured Jack Black way back when he was still a noboby...

But no seriously, I might be inclined to check out this flick since I like foreign films and am an avid Nazi enthusiast (which doesn't mean I'm a Nazi, I just love things pertaining to Nazis).

I can't stand to watch a movie with nazis. It makes my stomach churn just watching it!

Why?

Not sure. Just something I was born with. After I watched Schindler's List I couldn't touch anything/hear/see anything german. You could call it a phobia, but I'm in control of it. For example; just typing about this and thinking about it make me extremly uneasy; though I can do it if I want to.
I think it has something to do with just how evil hitler was.
(Though I can make nazi/jew jokes all day in humor with freinds)

Anywho...I love anything related to Nazi Germany or WW2 in general. It fascinates me. Germany and Russia both. I swear in my past life I was in that war...either a Germ or a Rush...hmm...

Anywho...yeah, I just can't help it. I'm fascinated by anything Nazi-ish. Even neo-nazi skinheads. I don't buy into their bullshit or anything, but it fascinates me.

At least that was proper English everyone can understand.

I didn't make that comment to sound popular, it's just funny when you see them in a changed city in those outfits.
I'm well past the age of feeling the need to be popular just because you "know people" in movies....
Sound more to me that you were trying to be the bad ass popular guy with your mocking comment.

I'm definately going to see this as I am also "into" WW2 films and all that surrounds it (history, recent neonazis, militaria, etc)

A. I'm already bad ass; and B. that movie is like over 10 years old...and I didn't even like those kids in the movie, nor cared they were in it to begin with. I was...oh forget it.

And Jack Black...yeah, he's a popular american actor. A comedian mostly...but he was in the recent release of King Kong.

Can't say I've come across too many Dutch films. Only thing Netherlandish was some film from Finland (that's Netherlandish yes?) and it sucked.

This one (blackbook) will be a big one.
Most Dutch films are shortfilms and arty, some people find there is too much talk, and too much sex, depends on taste, like with everything.
But some bigger ones you might have heard of :
