Is it strange that I get antisocial when people come to my house?

I seem to need some notice before people pop by so that I can get into a mental frame of mind to chat and play hostess. We've got some friends over now - my flatmates invited them over, but didn't tell me about it until they rang the doorbell. Now they're all being noisy and happy and I've snuck off to be well, by myself.

I'm fine if I've got lots of notice, but intrusion is intrusion even when they're people I know...

Hehe I used to be like that too, too defensive I guess. It's not that bad if you think about it. Not everyone is as carefree.

Why I live by myself now. Strict call before you plan to visit. No call, no enter.
Nothing shits me more than surprise visitors who appear on the doorstep and don't get it.

i know how you feel, living with other ppl, ppl pop in all the time, but i tend to be quiet and sneak off also, unless i may soemhow semi-know the pppl, even then i am rather silent.....but the flatmates should of also had enough respect for you to inform you of company...

Exactly the same here.
I need to plan ahead!! I don't like unexpected visits.
It's forced upon you to be social and talkative, which I'm usually not.(talkative that is)
So yes, it takes some time to prepair myself...and what about if the house is a mess ;-)
I need time to clean up before arrival.

i know how you feel about that. when people come over to our house. before i used to stay in my room and not come out until they are all gone. so that i can go out and do whatever without someone having to stop me for a hug, having to say hello, and chatting with me for a bit.. it feels as though they take up most of your time. but when people come over. i think i have gotten better. i will come out and give them a hug/hand shake, chatting, and stay there for a while. but after i'm done chatting i get pretty quiet and go on back to my room... but now it depends on who is over here and wether i like them or not... to come out and the such...i can also be anti-social myself but that is because i'm shy and quiet...and don't really know how to losen up and all...

I used to be a lot like that. But one adjusts with one's circumstances, know? After a while you get used to having people pop in to check on you and being around others in group.
