I've heard a lot of wingers on the board say(naming no names) something along the lines of- if your not a goth and you don't believe in labels than why do you come on to a site labelled for gothic people.
I don't believe in labels firstly because they act like boundries, they constrict what you can and cannot be and put limitations on your actions...
I do see myself as sharing characteristics that some of you "gothic" people do, i dress like you, i share your taste in music, i take an interest in the sub-culture... BUT i am also a number of other things and by labelling myself a goth it would mean i am soley this,which is untrue...
So shoot me...

Hey i don't think i'm being naive i'm just defending the peole on the board who don't want to be constantly labelled and categorised, doing this leads to petty assumptions and sterotypes and i'm far from them...Can't you understand what i'm saying about labels being constictive, if i'm just the little goth girl, than i may as well be no-one, by labelling my self this i am nothing else and people fail to see me as anything but...Do some reading on the philosophy og Friedrich Nietzsche-maybe it will help you see where i'm coming from...never meant to offend you guys but am fed up with this!!!!!

Anyways, Tomtom I agree with you to a point. I do have to say that it is easy for me to get pissed when I am labelled but I find it so simple to label everyone else at a glance. I don't know why I do it...Not to say that I don't give everyone a chance, because I do. But my first thought is to stereotype them.

i know the name been changed...i was mainly referring to the time frame in which the thread had been posted. and yes, if he/she/it (heehee) wants to rant, they should go do it in the bitch forum. that's what its there for.

Perhaps i should be in the bitch board but i wnated to say just because it was a gothic board it doesn't mean that the so called "non-gothic" peps can't come here!!! Plus i apparently am a "goth" it just hate been labelled one. I'm a student, a daughter, a girlfriend, an indivdual, and much more besides just that little "goth" girl everyones knows me as!
