Okay, so in a week I'll be moving into my fourth/fifth home, and my first place solo of parents.
Exciting, stressful, a bit 'ARGH!' at times but overall I'm really looking forward to it.
How many times have you moved? Who do you live with? Where do you live? Do you own, or rent (or squat )?
I'm already becoming really house-proud about my other place, planning things to buy for it, decorating schemes, if I'll be able to have a pink room etc etc
Is there anyone else more interested in curtain fabric and paint colours than shoes?
(Okay, so I'm not that bad yet, but it would be reassuring to know that if/when I do develop that problem, I won't be the only one)
Everything and anything about houses, homes, moving, redecorating, the perils of cohabitation etc etc is all welcome in here A golden energy

And found myself again I was wrong, I don't mind

I've moved at least 75 times. Only about 10 times in the past three years.

Yeah I'm getting one built for myself. It's gonna be about 2400 square feet and crap.
You see, since I stopped posting here I got a lot of crazy promotions and such, so all of a sudden it was like "Why the hell am I in an apartment?"
My fiance and I are constantly in places looking for furniture and such. All I know is that I'm finishing the basement myself with marble tile and hanging a lot of my own artwork everywhere.
And when I was little, I didn't give a rip about that sorta thing. You do understand, Sybs, we're getting old. Don't you?

The house is a small end-of-terrace place that I don't think I'll be able to decorate much (rental contract etc). However my other place I'm already looking out for little bits of furniture and furnishings that I'd like for there.
I'm only 18 and a half, I'm not getting old!!! Although I am preening my nest, which in a way is more concerning.. A golden energy

I live in the freggin woods. Only reason I got a computer right now is cause I'm at work.
I do spend a good deal of time with my parents or friends, so it's not like im shut off from society. But I do sleep, wake, and spend my morning and sometimes evening hours about 1/4 a mile off of a hiking trail.
Congrats on the house. I'd like to get one sometime soon, but I need to get a new car, repay some gas and cell phone bills, and repay some med bills the Army stiffed me with. Sounds like a lot, but I'm probably only about a month and a half away from paying it all off. "...Now Swear The Blood Upon Your Steel Will Never Dry,

I've never settled, really. I'm going to borrow £150000 on Monday and buy my first home. I'm 34.
Within two years my plans are to own at least two properties. One I shall live in, one I shall buy to let.
At last, with my own bricks and mortar I can get myself the one thing that's better company than many and most human beings, a dog.
I'm going to buy a place in Chelmsford. Far from the madding crowd.

We moved when i was a baby. From Baldwin to Bethel Park. Then when i was like 10? we moved to where we are now, Cecil. I miss Bethel Park sooo much...cuz people are so nice there and we lived in a caldisack(sp? whatever) man! It was fun..it was so the shit! Nice town to grow up in! But i do love this farm. Nice and quiet, got my animals, all my cars...i love it! Can't complain! Just everything isn't just around the corner anymore. Ah well..can't have it all!
I can't wait to move out tho. I mean i love it here sooo much but i just want to be on my own so bad!!

Um, moving? Never really moved out of area we lived in. Once Momma kicked Da out of the house she eventually had to sell it and we moved into an apartment for I dunno how long, I was 4 or 5. I believe we moved 2 or 3 times within the city of Waynesboro til she rented a house in Stuarts Draft: the cow infested town I still call home. I still remember when that lady who ran the florist shop up the street was murdered. Spooky that she was drug down the street we lived on. Anywho, we lived there for say 6 years til she bought the house she lives in now. Different subdivision, at the base of the mountains vs. central to town. However, currently I reside in one of the dorms at Virginia Tech and I'll be here til May. Future homes are in the plans, but not feasible til the bf and can get money and I get a better job to help, ey. Okies.

I've only moved 4 times, 3 times was with my parents, and the fourth was with my b/f - I'm still there in a little quiet terraced house and I adore it! I did move back to my parent's house during a 'rough patch' and it drove me mad! I think once you get used to your own space there is no going back. Also, I don't own the house yet - the bank do, and it's a total bugger! I re-mortgaged a while ago though after deciding I didn't need a bigger house cos I don't want kids. We spent the money we made on re-furbishing the house, it still isn't finished but I totally love it.
At the end of the day, buying your house is an investment and if you buy in the right area you will continue to make a profit. I think that's one of the most important things to consider when buying a house, you don't want to end up worse off if you decide to sell, so make sure you get plenty of background info before you buy.
Allthough my house is relatively small, it's worth quite a bit more than the standard terraced house because the land it's on can't be built on (all the neighbours clubbed together and bought the land), and it's in close proximity to the motorway so it's ideal for commuting. Just a few things to think about.
Most of all - enjoy it! make it a 'home'
