I'm married to one,(he prefers nerd) some seem proud, and they are very endearing...i was curious what makes us(well me anyways) love these men?

They have strange senses of humor that always makes me smile. If i need help with anything of a technical nature or more personal, they are always eager to help...and are good to talk with; they may leave you puzzled, but it's always something you never knew.

They are kind, listen, have strong fingers, whether it's games, comics, computers, even for good science fiction or fantasy...they have what you need...they just know.

i find most are really very adoring, intelligent, strange enough to not be boring, and not all run around in taped up glasses and a pocket protector.(some are very handsome) Our world wouldn't run without them, and computers...what are they?

lets all tip our hats to these men of the modern world!

So, curiosity requires: What is the lifestyle of a Geek/Nerd?

I -love- geeks/nerds! I call myself a Geek Groupie!

My bfs were always geeks and/or nerds in high school..why?

because they are smart, they have great senses of humor, they are into sci-fi/fantasy...and they generally are not used to women paying attention to them, so they are ripe for the picking and really nice to their gfs.

The man I married was the president of his D&D club in high school and into RP-ing, music, sports...anything that involved stats.

As for the geek lifestyle, I would say it involves lots of computers, gaming, rp-ing, technology, anything with stats (like music or sports). If he knows how to build and troubleshoot anything about your computer, he's a bonified geek! Also, if you can get into a deep discussion on the finer points of JRR Tolkien and how it reflects the modern world, i'd say you were a geek.

Thing is, many people I know (male and female) have those attributes. I love music, RP'ing, fantasy, sci-fi, JRR Tolkien's work etc. I like how a computer makes one's life easier but I really doubt you could call me a "geek". Or in fact any of the guys I know who like I said, have those attributes!

Hmmm... That would be me as well... Especially the music and computers bit... I think I'm more the jeff Minter breed than the Bill Gates one though...

Im probably a geek. Hell I even need glasses But then I hate fantasy , sci-fi and surrealism, and I can be a real 'wild child' (terribly cliched I know)..

I can be as well, but I'm getting into the idea of trying to calm down now... Morphology, Longevity and temporal displacement you see...

ie. I'm getting to old for this. A lot of people in my family with libertine lifestyles have died horribly...
