Dark Horses
At the top of the hill, a pale rider on a dark horse
Waits to take me down the road of your unrealized dreams. I stand in
The meadows with tears in my eyes, for I have no desire
To ride in the saddle of the sons before me.
My dream calls out to me, and I must follow in the whispering moans
Of the wind. I cannot stay, and Father, I cannot follow on the road That your fathers have traveled before you. I am not your shadow, Merely flesh and blood trying to make my way in this world.
My white horse awaits, ready to take me through the fields of my life, And to write the very chapter of my being. I am still young,
Searching for my future within the horizons. You look to me as though
I shamed you. No goodbye as I leave, not even a tear as I ride off Into the sunset. As I look back the image of a dark horse and a rider Fades off, leaving the last memory I'll have of you.
Father, you have disowned me, and your abandonment weighs
down on me like a cross you want me to bare. The pangs of the Unforgiven pierce through my soul, and the emptiness chokes at me like your cursed words of Abandonment.
Someday you'll forgive me like the prodigal son
And see me for who I am.
"THE JOURNEY(DARK HORSES ACT II)"
Walk, my child, down the road to your tomorrow. You must see
the world through not your own eyes, but through those of an observer. Take with
you your desires and ambitions, for they will help in your days passing. They will
define your very being and solve the puzzle of life's mysteries. Remember child,
when you cry out to the lost souls, it will be but a whisper blowing in the wind.
Listen to your heart, Child, it will not lie. Trust it, as it guides you on your journey.
Do not trust your mind, wicked thoughts decieve and betray. Wisdom comes from seeking, with an open heart.
"THE ROAD (DARK HORSES ACT III)"
As I travel down this road, your cross of abandonment becomes the burden
that sends me two steps back for every step I take. I've seen ghost town after ghost town and the faces search for answers within the cold confines of their inner hell.
Somewhere out there lies my destiny, and sometimes the the choking feeling of
lonliness makes me want to come home. But my heart says carry on, for dreams are on the wings of angels, and I must walk before I take flight. Sometimes I wonder how
am I suposed walk when the cross I bear on my shoulders forces me to crawl.
"THE WOMAN AT THE CROSSROAD ( DARK HORSES ACT IV )"
With the focus of my dream fading fast, I call out to the Christ in prayer,
for he can send miracles in a heart beat. Prayer was the one thing you taught me
well and it's the one legacy that I'll cherish and remember you for, Father. But someday, I’ll have to let go of empty dreams and false traditions.
As I ride, I loose hope. The world is bigger than I had ever imagined. I’m cold
and lonely, surrounded in self-doubt. Alone I travel, haunted by visions of dark horses and
the dead souls riding them. My father’s abondonment chokes, trying to betray my heart to deny my dreams.
I come to the crossroad to find a beautiful woman(or angel?). She radiates beauty like the flame of candlelight, shining brightly in the dark. She must be heaven sent, an angel.
"THE COURTSHIP ( DARK HORSES ACT V )"
My friend, I want to call you my love, so with a rose in my hand I come
to you with the purest intentions of love so true. I want to take your hand and walk
though the fields while the spring breezes tease your hair. I want so much to hold your
hand, and to look into your eyes and see the stars witch consumes the evening skies.
To hear your voice sooths me, to hold you eases the pain. To rest in your arms takes
away the nightmares that haunt me like the troubled souls.
Each night I rest praying that what I’ve shared with you will grow and last.
"THE PROPOSAL (DARK HORSES ACT VI)"
With blessings from your father I'm here before you on one knee.
Please my love, be my wife and say forever. For my dreams to come true,
I'll need your hand in marrige.
You've been a friend so close to me, and now I'm before you, with the purest
of intentions. I promise this to you on a bended knee, the bond we have between us is so
sacred to me, and your beauty is a light I will cherish. Please my love, do not deny my love . Please, do not deny destiny. Forever calls to us to be together. I kneel
before you, seeking your hand, seeking a lifetime with you. Will you marry me, my Love?
THE WEDDING ( DARK HORSES ACT VII)"
Forever do I take your hand as we pledge a vow of life together.
Eternity is the promise I make to love you. The beauty you posess is the calming
of a spring breeze.
As you walk down the isle with your father I picture myself by your side.
Dreams of forever are about to come true. My journey has come to you, my new wonderful life.
My heart has found peace with you, and the heart does not betray.
I now realize that you are the dream I have been searching for. The past I’ve left behind is but a scar now, but was once a wound healed by your love. Forever is beautiful, each day with you is a new life.
"FUNERAL FOR MY FATHER ( DARK HORSES ACT VIII)"
Time, it passes by like the innocence of youth. It seems that my youth passed
by without you. But just as you are layed to rest, so I must lay to rest the hurt of missing you. There are so many things I wish I could say, but your living years are
over. I stand here crying, but is it for you, or the years we've missed together.
I stand here, saying words I should have said when you were here, it hurts to say them now that your gone. Time will heal, taking away the agony. The scars will
remain, reminding me of the pain that once was. Was I foolish to end the tradition
of one son following in his father's footsteps, seeking the world for myself? The questions run deep within, as they shall as the pages of my life are turned. I stand
here at your grave, forgiveness in my heart. But the sorrow of never knowing you will go on till I too face the grave.
"MY SON ( DARK HORSES ACT VIII )"
I hold you in my arms, the love between your mother and me.
I could promise you the world, but it would be a lie, and you
would live the pages of my youth. To see my lonely childhood
played out on the stage of my life would pierce my soul with the
dagger of hell. I want so much to guide you through your life
as you search the dreams that entertain the being of your soul.
Your dreams will be yours, and not the fathers before me.
A white horse awaits your time, while the dark horse of failed
dreams lie dead in the pasture.
All I hope, is that you make your dreams your own, and that they come true.
I pray, My Son, that you can reach out, and not be held back. I pray that you find
peace and happiness throughout your life, and may you know the love I have for
you, My Son |
