Before I begin, note that I'm an ametuer, and by no means measure up to any of the famed.. be it here or in history, but.. I suppose it doesn't matter, as poetry is supposed to be from the heart, right?

Why hold a false shield
and charge into the swords..
Is there a point to this
endless cycle of pain?

Why fight for tomorrow,
when you will die today..
Why struggle, why quarrel?
To dig your own grave?

We are but pawns
in this mindless game
pray for the charge
your only escape...

There is no end
to this cycle of pain
Fight, if you must
for an existance in vain

Today I discovered a new meaning
to the pain of helplessness...
You ask me, what is it-
What could be so horrid-
Why do you frown?
Look into these eyes-
Find my soul, if you can...
It drowns in the sea of blood
this world has cruely bathed,
drenched the essence of my being..

Can you understand the torment
of reaching for a hand-
a non existant hand..
Can you feel the blade?
The piercing of remorseless eyes..
Can you feel the poison?
It courses through my veins..

This is my gift on a day of "love"
a sentence of endless sorrow..

So it is here I drown,
be it in crimson bonds,
taunted from afar by fate,
or chained to this intangible cell-
this cold, isolated grave..
Why do I struggle, why fight
the pain, why fight this fruitless,
pointless war? For some unseen lover,
for some childish dream of tomorrow?
Forever a child then - I cry for tomorrow!

My heart and soul flee from it's chamber
Soaring to the heavens above..
Ignoring the mist, shunning the stars
and frightening the angels of old..
Their pinions scatter, sever the ether,
Shedding their ivory blessings to all..
I toss and toil, scour in space,
so this is true freedom, a spirit's release..
I am now free to stare at the world,
or wander the skies, even outer space..
