Wings unfolded
A story is told
A sweet butterfly begins
A spot of beauty in our little world
Despite of all our numerous sins...
Flutter about careless and free
I lay in the grass while you fly
I wonder why god granted you life,
While everyday so many die
The man on the street
Who has nothing to eat
Smiles as people pass by
And though they make clear,
They don't want him near
He still smiles. What's wrong with this guy?
Does he posess knowledge the rest of us don't?
Or does he acknowledge what most of us won't?
The wife in the house down on Sycamore street
Sheilds her children so they won't get beat
This act of heroism this woman shows,
Seems impervious to her husband's cruel blows
And yet though she must live her life full of fear,
She smiles brightly whenever he's near
And I wonder, why? How does she go on this way?
How does she do it, night by night, day by day?
I watch the butterfly, fluttering away
Alone in the sky
It has nothing to say
No answers to my questions
No answers from God, not even honorable mentions...
Except for perhaps the sweet butterfly,
Telling me that though the world might be harsh
We still can get by.... To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
