I dunno. I think that the music that becomes "mainstream" is probably the best there is. That's how it became "mainstream". I don't hate it because others like it, I just accept that that's how it is.

This is not to say that there is not some awesome shit underneath it all, but I think most of what's good has become mainstream. If it's really good, then it eventually becomes mainstream and I accept it when it does.

Please... So many bands are signed solely because they're marketable, not because they're that talented. The majority of the record industry is interested in numbers and figures and prices. They want what can make them money. You can't tell me that all these bands have talent and weren't signed just because that's what the 12-20 demograph wants to hear.

Yeah, I understand that music dosen't go all the way back to the release of Pretty Hate Machine, but I was referring to the new wave of Nu Metal that whines onb about the World, such as Staind, Slipknot etc.

I really cant understand someone listening to Slayer and not hearing Angry music, did you hear Reign in blood?

THere are some awesome bands out there, it just requires a little searching and you can come across some amazing music.....some people dont like Black Metal, I do, some dont like death metal.....I do, yet I dont like Hardcore or Industrial much, that dosen't mean it shouldn't be available or that it sucks, I just dont like it..... i understand where kain424 is coming from, he likes what he likes and eventually, like everyone he'll discover other stuff....
but as far as saying that bands suck........I dont care if people think the stuff I like sucks, I get that all the time....turn that shit off, its just noise, you cant hear the words.....heard it all.....i dont care, Pantera, Mayhem, Darkthrone, BLS or fucking Alice In Chains....its taste!!

And I don't agree. If anything, I think the total opposite. Most of the music that's mainstream today is ridiculous crap. If I'm listening to a contemporary band, it's usually one that I'm not going to hear on the local radio station.

I admit to having a few of the odd guilty pleasures. I'm a huge Neil Diamond fan. I love Stone Temple Pilots and a little country music. But as a whole, most mainstream music is just terrible.

I like some DrainSTH. But like SDS says.. it starts getting repetitive after a while.
