Somehow i doubt that.

I heard they were pretty equal in specs. Though i had my doubts with that cell processor from the beginning. If its too hard to draw the full power from that thing, defloppers will just go 'fuck this' and move to Nintendo or MS.

Pretty much what happend to the saturn. When Sega heard the PSX was aiming at 3D instead of 2D, Sega tacked on the 3D capebilities last minute. Though stilll a powerfull machine, the Saturn architecture was just too hard to program for, scaring away many 3rd party defloppers.

So i really doubt sony will tinker with the PS3 too much. Besides they already handed out deflopper kits and i dont think 3rd party defloppers will be too happy if they have to rebuild their work again because Sony cant make up its mind...

apparently the architecture of the cell is poor. it's designed halfway between the architecture of an application running processor and a gaming processor, rather than full onto games. this doesnt really work apparently.

but hell, i don't know much about the inside of an ALU etc.

What i dont trust about the cell is that is has 8 orso cores and the clock speed sony is bragging about is prolly based on when you add up the speed of each core.
Its just a hunch though. Sony is still pretty vague about the cell.

For all we know the thing IS super powerfull. But sony lost its credebility with me when they started those lame rumors that PS2's were banned in some country because it was 'so powerfull that it could guide missles' or something...

The part app/game architecture thing is a strange argument seeing how the CPU's powering the 360 and the Revolution are basicly IBM PowerPC Processors.

The same CPU (Also known as the G5) is powering Apple's high end Powermacs. And Apple is ditching IBM's PowerPC for intel CPU's due to the high power consumption and Apple is disssapointed with the performance of the G5 CPU.

what i heard was the 360 tri cores are designed specifically for games, not applications at all.

Psst... don't tell anybody, but I managed to pre-order a non-bundled 360, along with some games that I actually wanted. I couldn't help it; it needed me as its owner. I'm not addicted, though. I can quit any time I want, so back off.

its ok anti. i preordered mine a while back. ordered the super pack and perfect dark and ffxi and i've even put down £110 of deposit by trading in games and taking in the odd bit of change.

when i get paid next i'm sticking another 100 on it. this way i know i can't spend it on something else and end up not being able to buy it.
