what type of bands you like?

Mine would be Nightwish, Iced Earth, Dream Evil, Sonata Arctica among others.

Not quite sure what defines power metal.....

i don't have favorites, but i do enjoy Nightwish, Iron Maiden, Iced Earth (I owe that one to an old roomy of mine) and shit... i think the band was called "Chronic"...something like that..

sonata arctica is syphonic metal

hammerfall, avantasia ,dragonforce (dunno i u can call them powermetal since they are power/speed metal hybrid band and call it extreme power metal) kamelot (its not the best band in the world but i like some of their songs ...they are pretty good for being an american powermetal band)

cool ... I love symphonic metal ... I will check that one out.

I must be the only "Headbanger" who cannot stand Iced Earth. I truly do not see why everyone is so into them. *Shrugs* Oh well... I'm into some pretty fucked up shit, myself.
