What do you guys/girls think about when you write music/lyrics? I've been in a rut for about the past week writing my (small) symphony. Lyrics as well. Where do you get your inspiration?

My inpiration comes from marijauna and hashish, and sometimes I have a mind-blowing idea when I trip.....

Although I'm not a big fan of drugs, I have considered using them as inspiration. After a concert I always get inspired. And usually when I start a new relationship.

i guess it will have to depend on what type of lyrics you want. example, you want some country boy song you go expose yourself to some country, you want some "i just killed someone lyrics" you go do that...not that i'm condoning it, but then again, do you want to write about what you know, or what you want to know?

write about stuff that has affected you. it should come to you. if you try and force it, it will sound forced.

My Inspiration comes From The Emotions In My Life, The Things I need to express.

I don't look for inspiration.. if I am upset or have a strong emotion.. I write down every aspect of my feelings and then it just comes to me

Anger towards God is an inspiration.
The search for Love, the finding of Love, and the ending of Love are all inspirations.
Ummm... My dreams/isanity, I suppose. All the dreams I have, have been some inspiration to the stories I write. And also those small little insane thoughts that you don't really tell anyone about, but can exaggerate them into cool stories. All my stories always have three characters in them besides me. One is a Rabbit, who is Janis Joplin reincarnated, a Squirrel, who is Jimi Hendrix reincarnated, and a Cat, who is Cliff Burton reincarnated... And that shoes that music is also an inspiration. You just have to let yourself go, Duddy. If you concentrate too hard on making something sound too good... You're not going to get anything good at all. A lot of artists, whether they were musicians, composers, actors, comedians, etc...All their stuff was like... What is it called when you just let it happen how it happens? I think it's "Impromtu" or something like that. When you write your lyrics, let it flow like a river. Close your eyes and start making dots along the lines, and where ever they end up, put your notes there and play them later... You never know what you'll get.

I don't know if any of this is making sense, but it's what I do when writing stories and poems. I just start writing. I'll post my stories for you so you can see, plus just to see what others think of them. You oughta scan and post some of the music you write, I'd like to see. Just let it flow...
