Anyone here a fan of Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Oingo Boingo, Roger Waters, Frank Zappa, Therion or any other slightly eclectic bands and want to start a discussion on it? Yes that was the single longest sentance I could think of...a, I love commas. Anyway, take careful aim! ^_^ Sex, Sleep, Eat, Drink, Dream To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. Ah, a Floydian fan after my own heart *stares blankly and drools*. Anyway, what about them do you like? Any fave albums or eras? It's all good to me, but I loved the old experimental material. They actually used to do all manner of crazy shyte on stage. I understand they used to sit down and drink tea in the middle of a show...there was a point to it, they had a conceptual stage presentation based on the daily routine of an Englishman and the second set was based on his dreams which were mainly nightmares. Pretty cool stuff. Sex, Sleep, Eat, Drink, Dream To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. pink floyd were artist in some many genre's. they were musicians, performers, and most of all conceptual. that's the one thing lacking in about 98% of today's bands, they don't go deep into their music. they write up some poppy tune that (to their amazement) rhymes and then have a producer help their guitar player figure out chords. it sucks. pink floyd is amazing. i just wish that i was around to see them back in the day.

..Oingo Boingo and Pink Floyd, the others I either haven't heard or haven't heard enough to say.
Funny you mention Oingo Boingo, I'm wearing one of their shirts at this very moment. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

And you run and you run to catch up
with the sun but its sinking
Racing around to come upbehind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older.
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death. "Time" Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd is one of the best bands ever. They're music has affected many generations and I believe it will continue too.
I was surprised no one brought up The Doors...Do you people not like them? I think they are in the same category with Pink Floyd. Your mouth is like a suicide Talkin like you never died Automatic charisma For your chemical mind I'll suffer for you I'll suffer for you You're kissing me like benzocaine w/your Sleeping pill eyes Melting me down and suck, suck, sucking my brain I'm gonna hate you tomorrow Because you make me hate you today...Marilyn Manson "Suck 4 Your Solution"

Wow! I'm amazed at finding Oingo Boingo, Frank Zappa, and King Crimson fans here. I thought they were the forgotten masters ^_^. BTW, where does one go to get a Boingo shirt? I'd just about kill for one. So, what draws you to these bands? For me a great lyric or beautiful melody is about all it takes, quite a shame I can't identify it more clearly than all that... The music of Crimson is just great, I won't dishonor it by attaching hollow words to it. Boingo is very intelligent and musically incredible punk for the uninitiated. But even that is a bad description so just go and listen to the music! ArSiNiC, I agree that the power of the Floyd is and always will be in their concepts, even if it's not an entire album long concept. When you mix Roger Waters and David Gilmour the result is 99.9% of the time perfection. As for the Doors, to me they are too much of a pop culture event (kind of ironic as I'm still quite the Nirvana fan). At any rate the annoying beatnik poetry bits never appealed to me even though I fancy Jim Morrison a fantastic print poet. .....Any Stones fans, then? How can you not appreciate the World's Greatest Rock 'N Roll Band? When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.

Of course the Stones are cool. Only problem I have with them is trying to figure out how to keep Mick Jagger's ego from knocking the Earth from it's orbit as it gets larger...I'm sure before long it'll start giving off its own field of gravity ^_^;;;. Oh, Concubia, thanks for the tip, I needs must check e-bay sometime for a Boingo Shirt that isn't astronomically expensive (if I had a huge enough amount of cash for such luxuries I'd go and bid on one of those Brian May signature model guitars *drool*.).
