If there is anyone on this board who is actually cool enough to play MUDs, I'll be surprised, but I figured I'd make a thread for it anyway. Personally, I only play one, thats Ancient Anguish.

AA is a MUD that I've been playing off and on for the last 8 or 9 years. Recently, after a long break from it, I started playing again and have found myself hopelessly in its thrall. If any of you fuckers are interested in MUDs go to ancient.anguish.org port 2222 and play. It rocks your face off.

I've tried many times to create MUD related topics on this board...and they never get anywhere.

Pretty much I've played about 70% of the codebases currently being used, including custom ones, so long as they're listed on mudconnector.

We could always march around with "MUD Wrestling 4 Life" written on big signs and screaming out slogans like MUDDY MCMUD!

I can't access it from work. I have everything I need here but it would only keep me from getting any work done.

There was this neat MUD where you could build an empire from the ground up, recruit other players to be in your empire and even wage war against other empires.

Of course nobody ever played it so it quickly died off.

It ran on the EmpireMUD code base, a custom thing and it's primary problem was a huge lack in help files. Like a lot of muds actually..

yea...but it helped to learn from an experienced player.

I played a MUD for a while, then lost the link when my HD crashed.

MUD(MUDD) Multi-User Dungeon(Multi-User Dungeon/Domain)

Primarily a textual oriented game, it's any game offering up a multiple amount of players at one time within a dungeon or domain(kingdom/reality/etc). So things like Everquest fall into this, but MUD now is mostly slang for textual "MMORPG".
