So I got a gamestop gift card as an early christmas present from my wife - I can go pick out any xbox 360 game (except rockband, or GH3 )

the problem is, I dont know which game to get next and I need some ideas.

Im between COD4, HL2: episode 2, and assassins creed.

any suggestions? - or another game (preferably 2 player) that you would recommend?

COD4 for sure, HL2 is ok... but not as good and AC is boring as shit, but beautiful. I noticed you liked Halo 3 so I would suggest going with Call of Duty which is fucking AWESOME. Best one they did yet, its like a mix of Halo 3, Day of Defeat and Socom 2, its the best FPS Modern Warfare game on the market.

I like everything about COD4 - but everyone says its only like 8 hours of total gameplay.

So this is what I have heard/read about each game:

Assasins Creed: Great graphics, confusing story line, repetitive as hell.

HL2: Orange Box: great series, but more or less just an expansion pack for HL2 (worth more if you play TFC2 online - but I probably wont)

COD4: Best game out there, but campaign only has 8 hours and no local co-op

The best shooter and military game of the year was Call of Duty 4. I think you'll also enjoy Orange Box too because I can't stop playing Team Fortress 2. I haven't tried Portal though.

yeah 8 heart pounding ass kicking hours of gameplay. Thats only Regular mode, playing through veteran would take you probably almost twice as much as that since you die so often. And thats not even including the hours upon hours of gameplay for xbox live. Its literally the best FPS for multiplayer on the market right now.

Im definitely leaning towards COD4....

holy shit this game is awesome, since its a short game I started it on the easiest level and beat the game in 3 hours. I will play it again tonight on standard, and so on and so on.

but holy shit!! - I have never been so immersed in a game, it was like the whole world went away and all that was left was me, my mp5, and a whole bunch of terrorists in need of a beat-down.

my favorite character is the AC-130 pilot - talking smack while you rain down gattling gun fire on your targets.

Out of curiosity, why no Guitar Hero or Rockband?

1. its fucking DDR with guitars, and thats gay
2. my wife doenst work, shes a stay-@-home mom, so money is limited.

The second I can understand. The first, not so much. It sounds gay, it looks gay, but its ridiculously fun if you give it a fair shot.

My friends and I get around and play Rock Band for Hours on end, i know we look like a bunch of queers playign with toy instruments, but I dont even give a fuck, the shit is too much fun.

assassin's creed broke my 360. i'm loathed to putting it back in.

it's not out over here yet and i'd love to know the ins and outs of what you actually CAN do with it, rather than just press spiel.

I traded in Assassins Creed today with some other crap titles i don't play anymore, got 40 bucks for em.

OK - I took your advice and got COD4.

I enjoyed the shit out of the single player campaign, and while short - its incredible, immersive, and addicting.

the online play is really where you can get your moneys worth, I am ranked a four star general and im about to enter prestige mode, where you lose all of your upgrades and rank for a little avatar that says, "hey, ive already beat the game - prepare to be fragged."

anyway - good choice.

so here is the new question: I need another game. any thoughts?
