AAAARRRRHHHHHH!!!!
Nope. Whether I misquoted you or not, the point is One Flew Over..... was not a huge Hollywood film either! Have you even seen it? Most of those people were unheard of at the time, Chrisptopher Lyoyd was still practically a child!
And did I say The Godfather wasn't?
NO!
Shall we all try and remember what the original point was here?
I said that I thought cheap horror could make a good point and be valid, in an attempt to prove that I wasn't a movie snob. That I liked horror.
You asked me to name a film, then we started arguing over what the premise of 28 days later meant to us, which was all completely irrelevant.
I can agree with Sixx because I do think that some B-horror without points can be good for what they are, have basic entertainment value, but to me Cabin Fever was not one of them. You were defending Cabin Fever, hence the argument. Although, read Sixx's post and you will see he says that a film with a premise has more to offer, and that is definitely something I agreed wtih, that you didn't say.
Premise or not, the acting was appauling. It doesn't matter how cheap or bloody something is, if the characters are badly drawn and don't inspire recognition then it's never going to make me like it.
There are tacky films that can be fun, but for me NOT CABIN FEVER!
I just didn't like it. That's all.

Actually, I think that you just breathed more life into this fun little thread.
And I don't see how the acting in Cabin Fever was appauling in any way. Like I have said other times, the acting was not "Oscar-worthy", but it worked for the genre. In fact, I can't think of an instance in the film where the acting let me down at all.
It made me laugh at the right moments, smirk at the right moments, and cringe at the right moments. I think that the film worked on many levels and was therefore entertaining. And THAT is why I go and see films.
Also, a film such as One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is certainly considered huge and not always when just looking at budget (which was fairly light in this film's case). You have to look at production, exhibition, and distribution to see whether or not a film can be considered "huge." One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was heavily distributioned by the major studio and exhibitioned for a very long time to ensure maximum profits in the theater. That's huge! Also, it did very well. That's also HUGE. >:-) To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

I'm standing on a chair with a noose round my neck, now, YOU kick it away!!!!!
On the other hand, how did you feel about Blair Witch?
So, be interesting or kill me, one or the other, as if I have to type the words Cabin Fever or One Flew.... one more time I may have to kill you. I have medical instruments and the training to use them, so be careful!!!!!!!! To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Just like Jack the Ripper! Kool!
Anyhow, I loved The Blair Witch Project. Of course, I felt that the sequel was even better. These are awesome, original films that should be seen. >:-) To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Book Of Shadows was far superior, but I also liked the first one.
I figured that I would chime in... I forgot that I started this thread. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. Good going. I think that I liked Blair Witch so much because it was such a wonderful trick to play on the audience. Same thing with Adaptation. >:-) To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Oh dear God we agree about the first one.
*sits down and shakes head.*
I liked it because it gave just enough away, and the whole camcorder thing sucked the audience in. We are always conciously or sub conciously aware of the camera, the make up, the lights and whole production of things. These things tell us it's not real, and even if it is real, it a re-enactment.
Blair Witch 2.
A bad, bad BAD film.
So bad, I can hardly remember anything about it. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

OK.
Was that what it was called?
Now I'm having doubts, and knowing you two you'll love to pick me up on anything.

From Hell is correct. Awesome show. The only downside was the ending... I wanted more Depp (for once). >:-) To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

The accents bugged me, especially Heather Graham's. I liked the atmosphere, but then someone would open their mouth and the cheese grater would get going on my brain again.
Johnny was good casting, he's an amazing actor, and as I get the feeling you don't agree by your last post, just think of Donnie Brasco and Blow. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Donnie Brasco was awesome. I didn't much care for Blow, however. I liked Scarface much better. Blow was like a dried up, true-to-life version that didn't go as far.
Probably my favorite movie that had Depp in it would be... A Nightmare On Elm Street. >:-) To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Yeah, I loved the first N.O.E.S.
The third one too with all the kids in the institution.
Scarface is a classic, Pachino is excellent. I can't wait to see The Merchant Of Venice.
He was also good in that football film that had Sunday in the title. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

I don't watch too many of those football films. Actually, I don't really watch any sports films.
But yeah, Pacino is great. Dog Day Afternoon! Fucking sweet.
So what's your favorite movie? >:-) To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Oh God, so many.......
Well, if we're talking horror, The Exorcist wins hands down.
Interview with a Vampire if we're talking vampire.
Anzio, Cry Havoc and Saving private Ryan are my favourite war films.
And anything else? Yikes...errr....Muppet Chrsitmas Carol...Donnie Darko....Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil...Grosse Point Blank....National Lampoon Christmas vacation....Once Upon A Time In The West (and America too)...
Shit.
I could go on forever.
Those are what I can think of now, but there's no way I can come up with just one favourite......Oh, Oh, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, can't leave that off the list.. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Lost Boys if we're talking vampire. Halloween if we're talking horror. Psycho for classic, Braveheart for war, and Predator for action.
My all-time favorite? Conan the Barbarian. That show kicks ass! >:-) To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Ooohh, I liked Psycho, a lot.
Braveheart had another accent situation for me (When that came out I was living in Scotland, seriously divided the community).
I come out in a rash whenever I see Arnie, but I did like Predator, although I preferred the second one.
Do you ever watch 'nice' films?
Go on, name a nice film.
And well done for being able to name just one film as your favourite. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

What is a "nice" film? Like a comedy? Clerks was good. But I don't really know what you mean by "nice."

Haven't seen Clerks.
Nice = no one dies horribly, no major gun action, in fact, very little action at all. Maybe a little saddness, I'm not expecting you to be a Jane Austen fan or anything.
About Schmidt, American Beauty, stuff like that. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

American Beauty was good, but someone "dies horribly" if you remember. So that can't be a "nice" movie. Mallrats, Porky's, American Pie, Matchstick Men, Around the World in 80 Days. These are all "nice" films. They're ok, but not my thing for the most part. >:-) To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
