I saw Hearts in Atlantis last night, it was extremely good, and very beautiful cinematography as well. The plot (without giving anything away) is about a man (Anthony Hopkins) who has psychic powers and develops a friendship with a boy. A lot of volatile issues (like rape, child molestation, and others) are touched on, but not in a 'we're dealing with an issue here' way. If you cry easily at movies bring the tissues, the friend I saw it with couldn't stop sobbing at the end. Very funny and touching too, and I'd say it walks the line between chick flick and date film. There were a lot of males in the theater who obviously enjoyed it, and it did center around a male main character, but it was very sensitive. I would recommend it highly.

Isnt it a Stephen King story?

Has anybody that has seen this movie also read the book? The book was extremely good. But also long, and I'm worried that they would have to cut alot of parts out of the book in order to make the movie short enough. If they followed the book, the movie would be like 5 hours long, at least. I'm just wondering if the movie would be worth seeing after reading the book and not be disappointed in it.

I am reading the book right now, I hope to have the self control to wait to watch the movie until I am done with the book.
