What is good music to you? I'm not looking for a song title or a band name, or even a genre. I want to know what in the song(s) you like, is it soft, is it soothing, is it instrumental, is fast paced, does it have heart? I want to hear your opinion of what makes music good.


Mine is: String based, soft vocal with some type of meaning.

mechanical, heavy, a few samples... a song that will break down just long enough for you to catch your breath on the dance floor right before it starts pounding through you again. Those songs that just stick with you, because of the memories or the feelings associated with them.. the kind that draw your full attention the moment you hear it.

by the way: no guitars in the music.. maybe if it's a very short distorted sample....

mine varies....i mean, i need instruments for the most part, but sometimes i enjoy electronic stuff.....

but really, it depends on my mood....

sometimes i was want heavy, fast, nosiy, dirty, angry, low-ass-growling vox......other times i want up-beat, dancy, sexy, clean, seductive vox.....sometimes i like soft, angry, angsty, love-sick, melodic, seductive vox......other times i just want very calm, clean, eclectic.....

so i unno.....i just listen to stuff i like.....

music i like, and lyrics i like. since i listen to just about everything, i can't get much more specific than that.

I'm with anti on this, and it really depends on my mood.

Strings,and sounds that make the song unique.

Lyrics that come from the heart, but are presented in a way that is not overdone,cheesy,and brainless.(like boy bands/most pop singers)

I guess I am sucker for a catchy chorus. I don't like music that is too raw or harsh either.

so, you strictly like pop music?

i, like others here, it depends on my mood at the time and if i also happen to be doing any art. music is a great inspiration in my creativityin that case ,i like to listen to classical or chinese guitar.

Accordians, banjos and bagpipes. All together. With Trombones and triangles. Preferably with female east-indian singers, 5 of 'em, each singing a different song.
Actually, that could be kinda interesting.....
