ok this is actualy asked this before on an older thread i did,but this time i can do a poll.so who is better david bowie or marilyn manson?

Usually vs. polls are no contest but this one had me thinkin... I've listened to Manson for years and Bowie as well. The thing is I listened to Manson more often so that's why I went with them...

It's kinda funny that you compare those two. I think Manson is more reminiscent of a character such as Alice Cooper, not Bowie. I think it would be cool to see them on a poll. Come to think of it... Bowie kinda of reminds me of Jay Gordon from Orgy (especially because he tries to sing with an accent but he doesn't have one).

Hmmmmm, I smell a conspiracy. Anyway, it's to hard for me to decide.

I meant Jay Gordon (about the accent), Dyshade. He uses this fake English accent all the time except offstage (because he's really from the states). Has anyone ever noticed the similarities between Bowie's "Fame" and Orgy's "Opticon." It's like Jay is trying to pull off Bowie's whole "fame." And when Jay uses the fading "time" in that song. But I will always like Orgy.

I agree with Manson being more like Alice Cooper..

I've listen to both Manson and Bowie.. but I think I like Bowie better. A little more creativity.. originality.. call it what you will. In my opinion, anyway. Manson's okay.. David Bowie is good.

Marilyn Manson is simply a facade, giving teenage girls and boys an originality crutch (for a lack of better terms). Manson is simply about this facade that he puts on, leaving the content of his music on the same creativity level as Britney Spears. I would no sooner vote for him than I would Christina Aguilera, or some other talentless whore to the industry.

David Bowie is truly an artist. Not only is his originality level through the roof, but the content of his music is even more amazingly unique. Nothing anybody could ever say could change my mind that David is pure genius and filled with talent... my vote goes to him.

The fact that any of you are voting for Manson over Bowie really makes me wonder how brainless and tasteless [if not brainwashed] you all may be.

I consider them such different styles that it's hard to compare. I like the electronic feel of Manson, and Bowie is a bit more classic. Overall, I've probably listened to Manson or similar music a lot more than Bowie.

stigmata: Taste is simply a matter of opinion. To assume that one likes Manson simply because they're brainless sheep is to completely invalidate personal opinion. If one person's musical perference is not valid, why is anyone elses?

Having said that, I agree. Bowie is an artist, Manson is a showman. Does that mean I'm brainwashed if I like Manson's show better than Bowie's art? It wouldn't be an admonishment of my respect of Bowie's skill... simply a preference.

I'd definitely have to go with Bowie. While Manson makes himself look like an eternal fool when he "reinvents" himself, Bowie can take on a whole different stage persona (i.e Ziggy Stardust) and still not lose his appeal and his fan base.

Even Manson used to have his own underground, hardcore following. But of course he lost his legitemate fans somewhere between the Spooky Kids and latex breasts. But Bowie is still rocking it. He's got new fans and old fans.

Bahaha... So true. Honestly, I don't think they had many fans as the Spooky Kids. They were kind of a joke local band then. They were a lot of noise and theatrics but little music. They pretty much reached their pinnacle with the antichrist album I think. After that, the people that used to like his music didn't like the changes, he moved from Lauderdale to Cali and decided to try new shit I guess.

Manson on stage in full make-up rocking out.... done by Bowie in the seventies almost 30 years before hand....

The only Bowie song I've ever enjoyed listening to was his song in Labyrinth:

Other than that I've never liked any of his stuff. Manson has a couple of songs I like: The Beautiful People, Rock is Dead, Sweet Dreams... so if we're comparing the musical talent of both individuals it's gotta be Manson.

Well, I don't have a problem admitting I was a hardcore Mansonite. But he's an "artist" (and I use the term loosely) for children. When one grows up and takes one's head out of one's ass, one realizes that worshipping a superficial man such as Marilyn is a waste of time.
