| Band Obsession . . . -

I don't know about y'all, but I'm always on the hunt for new bands. Some I stumble across are decent, some really good . . . but there are those few that I just completely obsess about . . .
The two bands I can't seem to get enough of at this time are Finland's Moonsorrow and Germany's Nocte Obducta.
Moonsorrow is, in my opinion, the best folk/pagan/black metal band out there. Out of that whole folk/viking/epic/blah-blah-blah movement, they're the only band that doesn't come across as hokey. Their latest album to come out only has 2 songs on it, each running about 30 minutes in length. Awesome epic composition . . .
Nocte Obducta is a must for black metal fans . . . although it's not in the same realm as most black metal bands. They're somewhat progressive in their approach, songs lasting 10 minutes, with very soft, melodic, even funky break downs. An awesome band overall.
What bands have you been obsessing about lately? I was masturbating
just contemplating

Motley Crue. I always have been obsessed and I always will be.
But more recently I have developed an obsession with Deathstars.

Nick Cave. My iPod is 100%. I've loaded five Nick Cave CDs so far with six more to go.

whats your fascination with Nick Cave?
Can't say I have obsessed over any band recently You can look at it as a metaphor for the fleeting nature of human life, or just chalk it up to my being a sick, bloodthirsty monster. Either way, it's all the same.

Yeah, I could never really get into Nick Cave either . . . but a lot of my friends are absolutely obsessed with him. Me, I'm more of a Tom Waits sort of guy. I was masturbating

It's the lyrics.
And I came upon a little house
A little house upon a hill
And I entered through, the curtain hissed
Into the house with its blood-red bowels
Where wet-lipped women with greasy fists
Crawled the ceilings and the walls
They filled me full of drink
And led me round the rooms
Naked and cold and grinning
Until everything went black
And I came down spinning
I awoke so drunk and full of rage
That I could hardly speak
A fag in a whale-bone corset
Draping his dick across my cheek
And it's into the shame
And it's into the guilt
And it's into the fucking fray
And the walls ran red around me
A warm arterial spray
-Papa Won't Leave You, Henry
Nick Cave's songs take a few listens at first, then they just get better and better the more you hear them.

I can't get into him, i'd rather listen to Leonard Cohen You can look at it as a metaphor for the fleeting nature of human life, or just chalk it up to my being a sick, bloodthirsty monster. Either way, it's all the same.

I love music and all kinds of it. Maybe its just me, but most things I come across just haven't been all that thrilling. I really miss that butterflies-in-your-stomach sorta feeling when all my favorite artists were due for new releases...or the "crush" feeling of discovering a new band and having to know everything about them.
I can't wait to see what the next new trends in music will be, as the current ones have become stagnant.
Who, I wonder, will rise up to the challenge?

I would still have to say, after all this time, the only bands I have ever obsessed about would be After Forever & Epica. Maybe Tristania too.

For me, Slayer and Arch Enemy are my current favs, although only Arch Enemy with Angela Gossow as their vocalist, as Johan Liiva was horrid. ________________________________
