well i'm not so sure it's our fan...that's what my brother in law said it was...but i blew it out really well, and it worked just fine, i replaced the front panel of the tower that covers our hard drive and cd rom, hooked it up and it was no longer working...i removed the front panel and now it's working just fine, All the internal fans are spinning and blowing except the one that's on the motherboard, it has one heck of a suck to it however...any ideas on this one?

oh and thank you so very much for the help!

Hmm... The ones on the CPU itself usually blow towards the CPU. Are you sure it is malfunctioning?

i'm beginning to think not...however my husband is still doubting my assessment however i did find that when i first start up(that's what holds everything up) has a system idle process in the system using 99 of my cpu usage...with nothing running it took about four minutes once it showed the desktop before it allowed me to select anything in my start menu. After that point i'm noticing no issues...

at this point i'd set it up for service but i'm the service here

sounds more like an os problem to me than a fan problem.

cpu fans are spozed to suck...in air that is and cool your precious cpu

*pets cpu all "the one ring" like*

euhm anyways

maybe there is some probgram running on startup that shouldn;t run.....had it a while where it toook me nearly 10 minutes to get to my desktop...found out it was some n00b trying to break my system....and failing

*is not trying to worry you*

if you download cpucool you could check your cpu temp and see if it is indeed cooling good or not
http://www.podien.onlinehome.de/CPUCOOL.HTM
you can download it here...if you need help....

were here

If the fan -was- malfunctioning, it should show up in the BIOS. Apart from that, there are several programs that can measure modern fan rotation speeds. Look for "SpeedFan" or "Motherboard Monitor" on Google.

The large delay I am not certain about, but I could look into it if you want me to. Probably a network connection attempt timing out or something. The "Idle Process" is nothing to be concerned about. It is another word for "unused CPU time". Comp's doing nothing in that process.

well it would not be hard to get into our system*not sure if she should say that on the forum* so i doubt it's anything like that...however i had it on all last evening, and it worked fine...even for the obnoxiously loud online games my daughter plays, dungeon keeper two works wonderfully, however my search option with the computer does not...it won't let me search my media player, the internet, or even my computer, i've tried several different ways of accessing the search option, and it just won't recognize the command...

could something not have been reinstalled properly? the fan maintained a rpm varying from about 1200 to 1300 rpms and maintaining a temp of 40-45 degrees celsius...and it's humming along beautifully.

i would appreciate any help...i'm not finding any here
