I'm saving up to buy antivirus software for my comp, wondering if any of you had recommendations. Dad suggests Norton. Have you not learned from the corpses of your bretheren?

I disagree, I think norton causes more problems than it helps-it's too expensive and will always need upgrading. My suggestion is checking out freeware sites like http://www.techsupportalert.com/best..._utilities.htm
the anti-virus software they talk about is AVG-it catches evertything trying to worm it's way into my system-it's free-free updates and is non invasive -We cannot acknowledge allegience to any human government... Since i have started to us AVG, it has caught viru's trying to load from websites, programs off of kazaa and since then my comp has been nicely protected. in this case symantec may have the response ability, but their anti-virus system is lacking. shit i think even mcafee is getting a better rating for stuff lately then norton. jeez, just look at their firewalls You can look at it as a metaphor for the fleeting nature of human life, or just chalk it up to my being a sick, bloodthirsty monster. Either way, it's all the same.

I have always used Norton Antivirus, and it has nailed every virus i have ever had. Everyone I know also uses it, and has never had an issue with it. Its good.

I have Norton, and it's not too bad. I've had some problems with it, like when it quarenteens the wrong files (... don't ask.) and detects half of my programs as viruses, but... other than that it's pretty good. ~Death is only the beginning... of dying...~

Oh well, I guess no antivirus software is perfect anyways, there will always be issues that some ppl with have with one, and others wont, and visa versa.

okay, take it from me!!!!! i just had a virus on my comp....a Trojan-Startup....fairly popular virus
here's what happened: Norton's found it, but couldn't remove it....Norton's is bad
Panda-software couldn't do shit
Ad-aware couldn't do shit
X-oft found the virus, but wanted to charge me $40 for a code-key to eliminate it.....X-oft is supposed to be one of the best anti-virus protections out there
but don't buy the fucking shit!!!! thatz retarded.....either dl a hacked version from Kazaa Lite or find one on the net for free....Panda is free.....X-oft is mildly free, minus buying a code-key
DO NOT BUY NORTONS!!!!! hell....if you want it that bad, hook me up on AIM and i'll send it to you I was masturbating
just contemplating

my advice
split your hard-drive into two....store anything you absolutely do not want to lose to your D drive....and save every exe. file from everything you dl and whatnot.......and if need be, if hit with a virus.....just reinstall windows, or XP, or whatever.....itz time consuming and a pain in the ass....but free (if you have a CD or hacked-version of said program) and is the surest way to rid of a virus I was masturbating

I have never had a problem with Norton(((as long as I kept up with the updates))) sometimes I get impatient and say fuck you to the downloads and just surf and do it later--- I probably should not do that and do not anymore.....
What I am going to do soon is get an external HD and store all my gaming stuff on there and a back up---- leaving it disconnected unless I use it for offline game play--- that way if my main HD gets fucked I just reinstall from the external.... but so far with my new puter and Norton nothing has gotten through.... but for every anti-virus someone is cooking up a virus... so no matter what you use if someone wants to fry you they will To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. I have only had one trojan get through... But it was because of my own thoughtlessness... I didn't scan a paticular file group before opening one in it... THATS why it got through.. Not nortons fault, my own for not scanning after downloading...

I got AntiVir, a free one DL'd. It's pretty good. When i had Norton, it hardly ever detected anything. But with AntiVir, detections five times more frequent. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

here's the best advice you could get:
sell that dirty pc on ebay or something and buy a mac - it's the best anti-virus solution you can hope for.

mac should just go ahead and release a version of OS X for pcs like they thought of doing once.....
though I like the whole mac hardware software made my same compant idea the best, it could seriously give mr. bill gates a run for his money........
friends don't let friends use windows.
if anything else, go and delete the windows os from your computer and install one of the thousands of free versions of linux.... it does anything a windows can do and even more (if you take the time to learn it) and is like no viruses out there really for it.
both mac and linux computers have at most a handful or virus possibilites, and usually they are weak ones anyway - nothing like the ones windows users always get.
...and if you do anything important, demanding and meaningful on your computer like I do, you shouldn't take the risk of crashing for NO REASON that always happens in a windows environment.

I do not like Macs--- if a new game comes out it takes months if not nearly a year for it to go to a mac platform Besides if you are smart you can be safe on the net..... I have never ever had a problem with Windows itself..... To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. S.O.D.
