Icame to that point where i decided that im ready to leave school. I can leave school next year but ... my dad wont let me. I kinda tried talking to my parents and he would just say NO - no questions asked. You know ??? And I think I'm ready to leave school. I already have planned everything that when I go out of school I'll go to a college and study something im interested in and that i really want to do. I don't know how to prove it to them that im ready. I mean I have tried doing my best with certain art pieces and graphic designing and and showed it to them but i don't know. My mom left school when she was 16 and now she's a highly qualified business woman. And what now? Now I cant leave for some reason ... Tel me what you think please ...

if it's college, that's your choice, but if it's high school..get you diploma, sometimes it's more important than a college degree for jobs...if you're mom is successful i'm sure it was not easy for her...ask her what her experiences were, it's not a nice world out there anymore...years ago people could slip around having diplomas..but if it's a job that comes down to you and a person with one...they'll get the job...the jobmarket is going to get really tight here soon with unemployment rising and more people losing their jobs...

You know you may think that you are ready. But do you truley believe that you are? I do agree with Jordyn stay in school and get your fucking deploma. I'm guessing the reason why your mom doesn't want you to quit is because when she felt like how you did and thaught she could make it on her own. It wasn't as easy as she thaught it was. I'm pretty sure that everyone is going to agree with your parents and what Jordyn and i are telling you right know.

Stay in highschool. It isn't easy to get a job or get into college without adiploma. I graduated from an alternative school, and that is marginal. By staying in school, you can better prepare yourself for going to college. It sucks but you've only got what a year or two left? After h.s. it's your choice what you want to do, but for now be content with being in school, don't be in such a hurry to be an "adult", it is not all its cracked up to be!

i left high school and worked for 3 years. it sucked, but i have no regrets, just learning experiences. i am now finishing my diploma and getting college credits. it's very stressful. three years gave me a lot of time to appreciate what i had. get the shit over with now. you'll like it later. or, you may have to learn a lesson on your own...

it sounds like american schoolling has different emphasis on stuff than over here.

but for what it's worth...if you're going to go to college, do that. school is a waste of time if you know what you're going to do, do that. doing it later will only slow the process down.

but saying that, we don't have high school diplomas here. to get into an art school, it is advisable you pass your 6th form [year 12] exams but mostly it's down to your portfolio. if you choose to persue this field, get your portfolio real fucking tight and you should be good to go.

Even if you leave and get into college, every time you get knocked down you will think to yourself "I wish I'd stayed in school"

What if you apply to an art college and they have only one opening but two candidates, you and one who finished school?
They'll see the other person as someone who is determined, a worker, a finisher, someone who doesn't quit at the first sign of adversity.
They'll see you as a liability, I'm not saying you're not but on paper it will certainly seem that way.

Stick it out, whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger, It's not just a cliched phrase, it's true.

Why not find yourself an agent and sell some of your work, it'll take your mind off school for a bit.

please, if its Highschool, Stay put, finish. Trust us, its not as easy now as when your mom was your age, times have changed, and finding a decent job nowadays with an education is a bitch, so without one? good luck.

besidees, many places won't even consider hiring you if you haven't finished high school, let alone college. and many colleges won't even let you in unless you've finished high school. you'll regret dropping out now, if you do go through with it.

I am sort of speaking from experience here.. I wanted to drop out last year (my junior year) and I am so glad I didn't. My friend dropped out the year before and moved to Oregon.. he was the only person I could relate to about shcool and when he left I thought switching schools would fix things.. but that just made it worse.. so I wanted to drop out.. I was POSITIVE that I could make it without my diploma.. I was going to get my GED and go to beauty school.

Basically.. I have decided that HIgh school is an important part of life.. Yes you hate it.. it seems totally irrelivant to your future.. but you should stick it out. I switched back to my old school and now I am doing fine. It's better to try and graduate than drop out. If you get bad grades: ok you flunk out.. but you tried. If you get good grades: what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. Its better to have a diploma on your resume then to limit yourself without it.

I have also decided that every year of high school gets easier.. my senior year has been absolute cake.. boring.. but very easy.. its just another year to mooch off mom and dad and save my money..

Anyone you ask that has dropped out, regrets it. Before you get anywhere near sucess your going to have to work dead end jobs that you hate just to get by. it feels like your parents are just being hypocrital but really their saving you the stress of having to struggle your way through life. Wether you go back for upgrading or not. Its not worth it to drop out.
But we cant make your decisions

if you dont get a diploma...there arnt many job oppourtunities....when you grow up you'll regret not getting a diploma.
