i need help. this guy & i were dating for about 6 months. in between, i stopped talking to him because i found out he did meth with his friends. he convinced me he would never do it again and i even thought about drug testing him at random times if i got back with him, but instead i trusted him. why didn't i pay attention to those words "once a tweeker, always a tweeker" ? anyway, we broke up over some other dumb drama and i found out afterwards that he had been tweeking the entire time we were dating, only behind my back b/c he knew i would leave him if i found out.

not only am i heartbroken that he was betraying me this whole time, and that i must have been kissing him sometimes while he was tweeking (eew!!), but i'm really worried about him now. i found out he's doing it a lot more now that he doesn't have to hide it, and he's tried digging through his brother's pockets to look for some while his brother was sleeping, and even through the carpet to see if there was any that was left over. ive seen soooooooo many of my friends go down that drain, but i care about this guy too much to let him fall down there too!! i don't want him back, i don't care that if i could turn him in somehow that he hates me (he already hates me ever since we broke up..what would be the difference?), i just want him to be sober again!! i feel like he's dead, b/c the drug is overtaking him and he's not going to be his own self anymore, just another tweeker. PLLEEEEAAASSSEE help me, i hate the fact that he's tweeking!!! & i don't know if he would listen to me if i just tried talking to him about it.

Ok, heres the basics..

1] He won't stop because you want him to(you found this out already).
2] You can't make him stop(short of putting him in a hospital or mourge).
3] It's not always 'once a tweaker, always a tweaker'. My kids mom was one when we met, she has been clean since around the time we got married, and still is today..

Those are the simple facts... Now for what you can try to do..

First off, you can gently break it to him that he's an addict.
You can ask him why he's trying to kill himself.(he may not realise it yet)
You can offer to help him find a program, With no promises about the future.
You can call the cops when you know he's holding. They will arrest him and it might help him see the possibilities of non-usage.(if he finds out it was you, give up, he won't listen to you ever)
You can tell him that you can't even be a friend if he's gonna do this, That your not willing to watch him kill himself.(see the one above)
You could, through a third-trusable- party, inform his parents.(unless they use too, or don't care, then it's useless)

YOu can continue with these things till you decide to give up, or till it works..
*hands you a coin* flip this for answer...

As much as you don't want to hear it.... You can't "make" him stop, he has to want to do it himself.. Until he decides that he wants to give it up, all you can do is gently nudge his brain to the point HE, yes HE, decides to give it up..
As a last thing to point out to you.. remember this

digging through pockets~!!! i have this friend who comes over once in a while and my boyfriends brother dropped some meth on the carpet of all places and let me tell you this guy was carpet surfing through my floor picking each peice of cat food out of my kittys bowl and inspecting him after that weird ass insident i kicked them out and felt like putting a no carpet surffers on my door

i had a friend in high school, who was already anorexic (she knew she could talk to me about that) but is now married to a meth addict, and became one herself for a time.

6', 100lbs, she talked to me one day and said she means to quit. problem is, how can she if she was once addicted and is now around an addict daily? it's gonna stare her in the face, literally.
she's already started talking about "shadow people", which was the last stage my friend alan went through before hanging himself.

meth is unintentional (usually) suicide. i'm sorry that you have to deal with this too. do what you can, but ultimately, it's his choice.
