ok heres the thing i LOVE to sing its my passion i have been doing it all my life and i have topophobia (stage fright) and it got alot worse and i dont know what to do i want to go to college to major in vocal music but i cant do that if im still afraid to sing in front of people so if any one knows what i can do write back pleaz

Face it. Period. It will continue to rule and control you until you do. And yes I do know what phobias are like, I have acrophobia
(heights) and the ever so popular claustrophobia, which I suspect is genetic. My mind starts racing about everything that could go wrong, ways that which ever particular situation could result in my untimely death, and it is damn near paralyzing. So I try and distract myself, or take steps to calm myself, either by breathing practices, or just focusing on one single object in front of me, and blocking everything else out. Its not something that you will suddenly just be over mind you, but with practice and time, you can beat the piss out of it so it doesn't control you

Work on it slowly till it loses it's hold over you. start with just a couple of people, then work your way up to larger crowds. ( parties, etc. ) Eventually, you will overcome the greater fear and only have little 'pangs' when your in front of larger groups.

as with all things. It takes time, practice, and patience..

I can tell you one thing... The more you do it, the better it gets. Don't think about it, just do it - that worked for me. I was really scared to sing infront of anybody 'cos there's always that thing "what if they laugh at me or think i'm stupid" etc. The thing is hun, not alotta people can sing. I mean everyone can sing duh, but few people know how to SING. You've got one of the greatest talents ever and you gotta let it grow 'cos it can only get better. I know its hard, but singing in the shower isn't exactly gonna give it the air it needs.

I'm going to an opera school in germany next year, and I can't get stagefright when I stand infront of people who really know their shit 'cos then I'm never gonna get anywhere. If you want to do something with your pipes you gotta learn how to entertain, and its not that hard once you get the hang of it.

So start small then go bigger. Singing infront of people you've never met before and them coming to you afterwards and telling you you have a great voice, is the best feeling ever. Good luck!

Thanx blood bride ill probably try out for all state or something cause our chorus teacher doesnt really make us sing in front of the class even though i want to so baby steps

That, is all a matter of perspective. It all depends on what it is you are looking at. Yes there are some aspects of the human form that are quite disgusting, but when you look at all the separate parts, and see how they work, see how the function to make the whole, it can be quite eloquent, especially with the right music. Though you are not the first person I have had this kind of conversation with. Many people cannot see past the whole nude thing, they either think what you think, or they think "Hey I wanna fuck that".

I will respect your opinion on the matter so long as you respect mine. And for the record(and this is not towards the creator of this thread) my views on nudity in this thread have nothing to do with sex. I believe that nature has crafted a very beautiful and distiguised work of art in the respect of how everything works together within the human body(or any other life form on this planet for that matter) I can see how there are those the believe in Intelligent Design. I am not one of them mind you, but I can see how people can believe in it
